I was so excited - got up at 5AM while he was still asleep and put the suitcase in the car (it's been in the spare room under the bed so he couldn't see it!)
Now I am slightly worried I am coming down with a vile sickness bug which has been doing the rounds here - driving to work this morning and out of nowhere I was sick all over myself and the car :( I feel awful now - it's so strange, I felt a bit queasy last night and this morning but it had eased off and then that happened. Feeling very sorry for myself and trying to avoid going home because I've got too much to do (she says, updating on here! The stuff I need to do is intense an stressful and I don't feel up to it :o)

Have booked cheapy airport parking because of moms operation - I don't want Dad stressing with driving between Birmingham and Stoke while she is in theatre and the parking comes to only £4.90 more than the train and taxis would cost for our return.

Fingers crossed this feeling passes because I won't be much fun otherwise!

Well I had to come home and have been feeling pretty rotten, Haven't been sick since 12 though so hoping something just hasn't agreed with me rather than a bug. Fingers crossed.

Got quite upset just before I left work as one of my lovely ladies asked if it was morning sickness and although I know she meant well, I just think it's something you shouldn't mention, especially if you know someone is struggling. Needless to say, it definitely isn't morning sickness - I wouldn't mind so much if it was!!

Off to collect OH in an hour but am trying to get more water down me until then. Will be back in a few days! x

Thanks Jessy! I felt quite a bit better by the time we headed to the airport at 2am....extremely tired but at least my tummy was less of an issue!

Had a lovely time away - we went to Bulgaria. It's quite a distance for a long weekend but somewhere we hadn't been and I like the thought of making the most of being able to go for a long weekend away every so often while we can. It was really lovely to spend some time chilled out together too. A long lazy day by the pool yesterday meant I have burnt knees today but it was worth it :)

I have to be honest though, budgets went right out the window :( we went for a couples hammam and massage on Saturday night and then a night out on Sunday (his actual birthday) which were not in the plan. I will find a way to cover these this month, whatever it takes!

Now I need to get my act together and start sorting out his birthday party which is on Saturday. It's a joint party with a friends husband (they are both 30 this week) so it's at my friends house, we are doing various nibbly foods and buying some ales (it's a beerfest theme) for people to taste. Nothing extravagant but nice to be able to spend an evening with a lot of friends and family :)

Dreading going back to work tomorrow. I love the people I work with but my job is becoming quite stressful and it's started to affect my time away from work. Must come up with a plan for this.

  • Sounds like a fabulous weekend! Good luck balancing the budgets, I'm sure you'll manage it somehow. good luck with the party prep too.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

Glad you were better for your weekend away! It sounds lovely and you deserve a treat with all the stress you've had lately so I wouldn't worry about the budget! Hope work isn't too bad for you, is there anyone there you can talk to about it? x

I'm not overly stressing about the budget - had a massive wobble this morning when I realised how much we had overspent...there may be a debt hangover longer than this month from this :( On the upside I am definitely better at paying things off than I am at sticking to holiday budgets so I will soon be back on track :)

There's not really much I can do about work. I'm in a very difficult situation with the company I am in which basically means I know more than I want to and that causes much more stress than I would like. Today has been very good though, which was a nice surprise after a few days away. It has made me feel slightly better coming up to the great NZ trip in Oct :D
It always seems to be the way - I get myself in an absolute state after a few bad weeks and then have one good day which makes it all seem so much better.

Having time with OH away from the stresses of work/home/medical problems was so lovely, I can't wait until we go away again! I think it has done us both the World of good. OH went back to work today and found they had bought him a lovely big chocolate cake - he's never had anything like that from work before so he is chuffed :)

My mom had her second surgery yesterday - she had to have the experimental implant removed as it wasn't doing what was hoped so she is very sore and I want to go and see her but I want to make sure she is up for visitors first, hopefully will be able to go tonight though :)
