Is 2Mbps enough?

I am stuck in a Virgin cable contract, as I can only otherwise get an estimated 1.9 - 3.5 via BT.
Is that enough for normal surfing, and Sky catch up TV?

For normal surfing yes, for Sky catch up, 2 Mbps meets the minimum, but I doubt you will get HD.0 -
Why would you want a lesser service? It would be like going from a rolls Royce to a lada.0

Because of cost.....as stated?
That is why I am investigating the practicalities.O would some power the giftie gie us to see ourselves as others see us.

You didn't mention you want to move isp because of cost.. I suggest you read your original post.
2mbps ? I wouldn't even accept payment from an ISP for that speed. You'd be better off getting a 4G portable hotpot (location depending).0 -

You didn't mention cost, but I think you would regret it. Call Virgin and tell them sky can do it cheaper and you are leaving, more often than not they will match that price.0 -
Overall 2mb is only good for the very basics .
You say you are stuck in a contract .
Does that mean you are in contract for xx remaining months and would have to pay off if cancelling the contract .0 -

Come on,you are on full fat broadband.
At least type out all the words from your head.0 -
Also remember if you move away from virgin, you need to factor in the cost of line rental as well.
And there may also be a connection charge for the new phone line0 -
When I was on standard ADSL B/band I got ~ 5Mb/s - even with that I'd get buffering with I Player and Sky Go on occasions.0
