Fundire and Skint - thank you, you've both made tons of sense tbh, I'll write to cancel and send the letter by recorded delivery on Monday.
Skint, about the signature... personal experience makes you wise0 -
Hi...about 7 years ago, we won a membership with Seasons Holidays. We paid nothing for the first year and then for the next 2 years paid a maintenance charge. We had 3 main holidays (Scotland/Portugal/England) and a few weekends. We were quite impressed at the standards of accommodation of their resorts. By year 4 our son had started school and we found our green week didn't work any more. We contacted them and explained we wanted to give up our membership and there was no problem. This company then went on to be known as Club Seasons. Based on our experience (albeit a few years ago), I hope you won't have too many problems either cancelling or using the holidays. Good Luck with it. Mags.0

Thank you Mags, that's nice to know. I'm hoping to get my money back and we'll find a hotel for a couple of nights instead, it's better than nothing
I'm glad you managed to have some nice holidays

I have just had my last holiday with club seasons. I 'won' in december last year and paid the £157 maintenance. Luckily it paid off. i have enjoyed two lovely holidays, a weekend in whitbarrow village and a week at brunston castle. I won't be paying next year because you can't have school holidays. But if you have a chance to go do take it up. the accomodation is gourgous (mind the spelling) and is well worth the money. i would only do it for the first year though and you only have to go to one talk. it isn't a scam and i will be writing on every website i can to tell people to go for it because it is money well spent. if any one wants photos pm me and i'll email them.Winnings: John Deere Model Tractor:j

Hi Crazy Chick - I've heard positive things about Whitbarrow Village, I think you've been very lucky in your choices
I've also heard some awful things about the Laugharne Park accommodation, it sounds like something out of the 70's - the cooker was about 20 years old, shower didn't work, there were rows upon rows of knackered derelict chalets before you even got to reception, nowhere to eat unless you like being deafened by karaoke - great if you don't want to talk to your family!
It seems to me that Club Seasons has dodgy sales tactics - ie they tell you you've won this as a prize but you then find out you have to pay for it - not to mention the enforced sales meeting which takes up a couple of hours of your stay while they attempt to sell you better accommodation and convenient weeks.
They also have good and bad accommodation and facilities. Has anyone ever used their facilities (ie the gym)? I've only ever heard the facilities are being refurbished so nobody has actually had the chance to see/use them yet.
And the not so small problem of not having accommodation during school holidays, of course...
All in all, if they sorted themselves out, they'd have a decent concept (where else can you get a week's holiday accommodation for £337 with hugely discounted short breaks?) and a much better reputation. I doubt there would be a shortage of people using their services.
All the contact I've had with Club Seasons has been faultless - they've been nothing but polite, friendly and courteous. I don't know why they just can't get their act together.
I've decided against keeping my membership for a few reasons, I'm hoping for a refund any day... I'll update the thread as and when I hear from them0 -
we've just had a great offer from seasons. If we refer someone they get two weekend breaks and a week for £250 and we get £50. but we are gonna go on the holiday
. I have used the facilites at both brunston castle and whitbarrow village. The swimming pool was basic at whitbarrow and the jaccuzi didn't work but the following monday they were starting to refurbish it. At brunston castle the swimming pool was a bit small but it had a lovely sauna and cheap games room.

That sounds good Crazy Chick, it sounds like you're on a roll with them! All their facilities and resorts couldn't be further from where I live or I'd have gone and had a look!0

You are so right about Laugharne, our last week there in September was horrendous. I think it needs knocking down and starting again. They say that the old chalets (a terrible "welcome" when you arrive as they line the drive!) are geing knocked down and two stories upsidedown cottages built with wonderful views over the estuary. The white lodges have been refurbished but retain the horrid grey sanitary ware and the standard of cleaning was abysmal. Clowance and Bude were wonderful, so clean and nice. Whitbarrow I know is being refurbished so the pool etc was closed in June when we were there, but they really are trying to address any problems. Clowance was bought by them last year, it`s a five star resort and I would happily live there!0

just joined to post about seasons,
When i won my holidays were already booked for that year 2007 so they took membership at the reduced rate for 2007 but deferred till 2008, i also pointed out that this prize was for a family of four and we were six and they gave us a free upgrade to six berth acommadation for the first year only.
We have just come back from an extra break they offered which was fir 8 people at clowance for two nights and included their sales pitch, basically the prize is genuine but is for marketing purposes it is a crap week in their scheme but they give you the benifits of a better week in the first year only.
In other words unless you have no holiday time constraints ie kids holidays and like winter breaks it will be of benifit, a short break or holiday at any time of year would probally cost more than the management fee each year.a plain no was accepted.
we plan to use all the perks this year and hand it back as we cant aford the upgrade to decent time after this ,i hope this is clear.
p.s. my kids loved clowance, the kitchen was slighty dated but the rooms and lounge area were very modern with brand new leather sofas.0
