    He may even be able to sell the wedding itself on and recoup some of the expense.

    Did they not have wedding insurance? Most places insist on you having it when you book and obv he could recoup some money.
    I would defo have something to say if I was his future lady and he produced a ring he'd had for reasons before!

    None of the services we used insisted on wedding insurance. Not sure that a 'change of mind' would be covered anyway. Surely it's for circumstances beyond either parties control.

    It never occurred to us to get wedding insurance. It didn't create any problems though.

    Unless he was daft enough to volunteer the information, how would you know?

    Wedding insurance doesn't normally cover what is charmingly referred to as disinclinination to marry.

    I kept my engagemnt ring and sold it myself. He wanted it back but I said no.. He wanted it kept to give to our daughter when she was older... why? I really didnt want my old engagement ring from a relationship that didnt work being passed onto my daughter... rather odd..

    I would have no problem at all with a second hand ring - I prefer them as you get far more ring for your money. However, there is no way I would ever wear a ring that my husband had used to propose to someone else with.

    I was just about to write the exact same thing!
    I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
    Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.

    She kept the ring... I think it speaks volumes about personality.

    I suspect in the practical sense it is very much her daughter, not their daughter.

    <i'm sure many will disagree.>
