MSEr's attitude re selling on unwanted prizes?

I do think boasting you've sold a prize might be setting yourself up for comments though. It isn't anyone else's business what you do with a prize whether it is give it away or sell it........ so why broadcast it knowing it's going to get a reaction from some people ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
You do get jealousy when winning things so when selling a win, some people would feel you are rubbing their nose in it.
I usually enter for prizes i want or can gift. Sometimes you get something that wasnt what you expected or an unexpected runners up prize and i have sold prizes. But in the description i will describe it as an unwanted gift which isnt far from the truth. You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -

Boasting?
Why shouldn't you be able to 'broadcast' it ? People who are selling prizes are doing nothing wrong unless it specifically says in the terms you cannot sell on the prize.
I am not ashamed to say I will sell a prize if I want to it is my right to do so. It is the oh so righteous who have the problem in my opinion and if they don't like it then tough. I will not stop selling prizes because someone else thinks it isn't right and I certainly will never be afraid to admit that I do because I am doing absolutely nothing illegal so therefore because one person or however many people say it is wrong it doesn't actually mean it is.
I would like to ask you why you are 'broadcasting' that you think certain things arn't right when you know it is going to get a reaction from some people?0 -

I don't think I've ever won anything i didn't want/needproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0
-
I have inadvertently won things I didn't want - like when companies are out of stock of one thing and send something else entirely - but online selling is a faff and I don't like it. Plus I'm too lazy to enter even one comp for something I wouldn't want in my house, but I wouldn't judge anyone who sold prizes.0

I have sold things. I enter for things for myself, to treat family and friends and to sell as the money from what I sell goes towards things I save for.
There is always the issue that you may not be able to sell the item so it's normally something I could use myself but not desperate for or something I could give to someone.
I never sell at full retail cost but at a discount so that I'm getting something and the person buying it is also getting a bargain.0 -
I enter for things I want, things family and friends may want, and 'luxury' items that I could sell.
My attitude towards selling prizes is that 'luxury' items are fair game - e.g an iPad, as it's not something anyone would NEED. Whereas I won't enter for, say, baby/childrens items to sell as they could well make a huge difference to the life of a struggling young family.
In the end, they're your prizes that you've put the work into winning, so it's up to you what you choose to enter and then do with prizes once you've won.0 -
I have recently won a prize for the home worth nearly £900 which should be arriving any day soon. I entered the comp as this is an item I want but we are not sure if it it is techniclly compatable or will fit. If this is the case, it will be going on ebay. I doubt I will get £900 for it but, my prize, my choice.2017 wins = £1350
2016 wins = £125 (18 months off comps)
2015 wins = £6,460
2014 wins = £1,3500 -
wish I was lucky enough to win prizes to be able to sell them.I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus0
