  • What a day it's been today it's been extremely stressful and everything that has happened has or could have a bad financial impact on us :(:(

DH's work place have messed up his sharesave scheme that has matured recently which could result in a loss of £9k for us :mad: instead of buying the shares as we requested ( and we can prove we did request) they have sent us back the money he saved instead. DH had to complete a series of forms today to try and get the action taken overturned. Fingers x'd the decision goes our way but we are not confident it will.

The next door neighbour of our BTL property has a fence that has seen better days and our tenants complained to us that it was dangerous. DH spoke to the neighbour, who he has known for many years, and he agreed if we arranged to have the fence replaced he would pay half of the cost. The fence isn't ours it's the neighbours but as nice people do we thought it was fair to pay half. We told him how much the quote was and he was happy with it, the fence has now been replaced and looks so much better but guess what neighbour is now refusing to pay his share.:mad: He is saying he cant remember agreeing to pay and he can't afford it as he is a pensioner :mad: yes he is a pensioner with a brand new car, a spinster daughter living with him who works and has every new gadget going:mad::mad: can you tell I am really angry ??:mad: so that's another £400 lost :(

Adding to the already stressful day we had a text message and a phone call from our CC company to say they have identified fraud on our CC account for £1200 :(:( someone has tried to book a holiday or hotel room using our CC number. Never had this happen to us before we have been told to cut up our cards and watch our account over the next few days :(:( . This has really unsettled me so DH and I have agreed to close the account and apply for another CC from someone else. The ironic thing is we haven't been using the CC's for some weeks now so maybe this has helped identify the fraud.

Here's hoping tomorrow is a better day :):) not expecting it to be as I have a hospital appointment as my consultant has now returned from his extended holiday and I think I will need some surgery :(:(.
Only 7 more sleeps to my holiday :T:T and boy do I need it :)

Another one hoping today is better xx

Yet another sleepless night :(:(:( I am having too many of these lately but I have so much buzzing around my head I am not surprised :(

We had a weekend away last weekend what a disaster that was. I wont go into much detail as its very personal and still very raw but it's fair to say DS1 and DS2 (who I love unconditionally) let themselves and the family down with some unacceptable behaviour (nothing illegal I must add :p) . I feel gutted and empty at the moment if that makes any sense :(

Also our retirement timelines has been thrown well and truly in the air and I don't know what to do :( My employer has announced a voluntary redundancy package earlier than I wanted or expected :(:( the deal on the table is apply by the end of September and leave by the end of October. They have also said no more packages will be offered this FY so my plan to go at Christmas or March next year is now down the pan:p DH and I spent most of last night ( and me through the night) going through the finances to work out if we have "enough" to go. The decision making has not been helped by the volatile stock markets' as on paper we have lost a lot so our "pot" is a lot less then 2 months ago OK we know this is only a "blip" and stocks will bounce back but it a difficult situation to be in when you are making a life changing decision :(
Also we would only have a month or two to put the house on the rental market, get a tenant, make the arrangements to take some furniture and personal items aboard, sell or send to charity the stuff we don't want and sort EVERYTHING else that is associated with moving abroad and retiring early...............I am scared :eek:
We also go on holiday today for 2 weeks so we are not around to start the process now :eek:
I think we are 95% sure we are just going to "go for it" :j:j what's the worst thing that can happen??????:D: it's that 5% doubt that is keeping me awake :(:(
DH and I will talk more on holiday and make the final decision as I would need to apply for voluntary redundancy my first day back from holiday:j:j:j:j

    Have a lovely day everyone

Arrived safe and well at our holiday home unfortunately the bad weather the Costa Blanca has had recently has caused a couple of leaks in our home:( looking on the bright side it could have been worse I have seen a few houses with extensive external damage, luckily ours is only a leak or two in the dining room. DH will fix while we are here. The sun has been shining today :T:T :j

Still not sleeping have big decisions to make !

You've definitely got a lot going on, Popgirl! Luckily, the leaks are easily sorted ... the rest, though!

Do you have 3 houses, or 2? I can't work it out from the list. And £1800, what's the "pam" - not sure whether thats per month or per year :) which makes a difference!

Basically, your £260k and the income from your rentals has to last you until you can access the trust fund and the two pensions, is that right? Sounds like you have enough to go for it, if you're careful - you can always find a part time job, even online - after all, thats one of the things this week's news letter from Martin is talking about!

Plus there'd be the redundancy package, money-wise, wouldn't there ... that should help.

Honestly, with that money behind you, at your age ... go for it :j:j:j That doesn't constitute actual financial advice, obvs :rotfl: more a sense that if I had even just that amount of cash behind me, mortgage free as I am, I'd go for it :D

Hope you manage to enjoy your holiday too, by the way!
