Why would it be expensive and what would the serious consequences be if the owner transferred the property to someone and then left the UK to live abroad? Just wondering......?

You are introducing new situations, the original situation could give rise to unnecessary tax bills or be fraudulent.
The only thing that is constant is change.

hi, just want to transfer property bought about 6 months ago as sister wants to buy it from me.
searches etc all done recently , i.e. conveyancing done thru solicitor, so dont want to go through all that process again.
please advise if this is possible and can be done just thru land registery and changing name on deeds.
    no mortgages or loans involved
    thanks
    Nice to save.

rabaliones - apologies for not spotting this one previously

Our online guidance explains how you can transfer the ownership

As with most things to do with the registration process we always recommend seeking legal/financial advice as well though

The guidance and notes explain how you can either use a conveyancer to verify your identity or visit one of our 14 offices to have it done

  • My sister and I transferred my late mother's house into our names as 'tenants in common' before we sold it.

It was dealt with very simply by a local solicitor; it only took a couple of weeks as we already had probate and I think it cost about £280.00.
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.

When my father died, my sister and I sold the house .The proceeds went into the estate and were shared out; no need to pay to transfer into our names.
