Hi
Just to say I have a K800i on O2 prepay and I was able to install the Vyke Pro software successfully but, like other reports, am unable to actually send messages.
On a more positive note, I have also installed smsbug and this works a treat!! The only (very minor) downside is that SMS messages sent with this software have a small advert for smsbug at the end of each message.
Using smsbug could make a real difference to my mobile costs. As an O2 prepay customer, by topping up £10/month I get 100 free "units" where one unit is either one SMS message or a one minute voice call. Once these 100 units are used, my prepay balance starts to decrease. In theory, if I used all 100 units for cross-network calls (otherwise 40p/minute) they would be worth £40. On the other hand, if I used all 100 units for SMS messages (otherwise 10p each), the 100 free units would only be worth £10. Previously, if I needed to send an SMS message, it would come out of my free unit balance - even though it is much more cost effective to leave the units for voice calls. Now I can use smsbug for my SMS messages, at about 2p each. As the SMS messages won't be coming out of my O2 free unit allowance, I can use my entire unit allowance for voice calls.:rotfl:0 -

I'm on Voda too - got Vyke pro installed on my fully unlocked Nokia N70 no trouble, but I didn't manage a connection. I assume this is their block coming in to play, which I'm pretty furious about - it's not for Vodafone to prescribe what I can or can't do with the internet connection on my phone, as long as it's legal. I'll be calling them to rant tomorrow, if only for my own benefit, but can I suggest we all write to Ofcom? A trademark MSE bombardment of complaints ought to do the trick.0

An "Official" statement from Orange would also be good!
Why do you have to find these things out about blocking by rumouors, inference and asking OTHER users what their experiences are !!
Grrrrrr! :mad: :mad: :mad:
There is NOTHING on the Orange website!Disco Des & his Shiny Disco Balls:kisses:0 -
I have installed the vyke software on my virgin mobile and sent a text no problem. My husband is on TESCO mobile (o2) and cannot send a message with it. He has installed the software.
We have noticed in the application on his phone that if you go in to Vyke Pro, then into "more" then into "about" it says this application is registered to phone number + and then has no number.
On my phone which is working fine with Vyke it has my mobile no here after the "+".
Do the other people who cannot send a message with Vyke have the same problem, where there is no mobile no shown? Does this mean O2 are blocking the software too?If you can’t beat your computer at chess, try kickboxing.:rotfl:0 -

Ahhh... thanks for the tip, I can report;
No number shown for me and does not work!Disco Des & his Shiny Disco Balls:kisses:0 -
No number for me either: this is most likely because Vyke gets the number by connecting to the server, and where its use is blocked, it cannot find this number. Just guessing, but pretty sure I'm right.0
