Installed Vyke Pro fine on my Nokia 6233 but when I come to use it it all goes ok, but no connection. I think i've seen a thread somewhere (i dont think on this forum) that Orange have blocked Vyke . can anyone confirm this?

Just downloaded it [Vkye] on 02 network on a SE k800i phone. Went to send a txt message to myself to check if it worked and it seemed to take forever at the sending stage. I cancelled it after a couple of minutes.

How long does it take for it to send a txt?
For those on Vodaphone - how did you know they had blocked access to the app?

For those who are interested the application download was 122kb.

    Ta muchly!
  • I am on Orange and managed to get hooked up eventually. One thing I have noticed is my phone is now connected to the internet all the time. Is this racking charges up and if so how much? It would seem to defeat the object if I am being charged

If you read the Vyke website it says that you are connected fulltime but that it only uses a VERY small ammount of data to check, they reckon about 700kb in a MONTH if you left it on 24/7.

It does seem from the other posts that Orange HAS DISABLED/BLOCKED Vyke though . I just signed up to SMS Bug and that works but its SMS only. Vyke does voice and SMS.

    Hi Cath,

    If you use this link

    https://services.orange.co.uk/sam/templates/web/sign_in.htm

it takes you to a page where you can send texts from the Orange website but you'll need to enter your Orange mobile number.

I must be completely stupid... I've been to the above link, entered my mobile number and get to this web page where I still see nothing about 30 free text messages. HELP!

I've just spent 30 minutes on the phone to Vodafone after I've had trouble downloading the Vyke free texts software to my phone.

Vodafone freely admitted that they've blocked all their customers from downloading it because we'd start taking revenue from them by routing calls and texts over VOIP instead of their network (well, at least they were honest).

One advisor I spoke to freely admitted that it was anti-competitive and restricted customer choice, and probably wasn't the best thing for the customer (admittedly I prompted him). I've asked someone to call me back to tell me when they're going to remove the block (I'm not confident they will, however, until someone like Offcom catches up and tells them to).

    Hi,

Thanks for letting us know. I'll am checking this out with the Vodafone press office.
