No Waitrose anywhere reachable.
Most local Tesco is only a small one with a very small counter. Will try and remember to check a larger store when next I venture far enough from home
Is the salt essential? That's another no-no in my kitchen apart from when using my bread maker (but I'm finding a lot of recipes for that taste much too salty, as do the Mr M in-store bakery granary rolls I bought recently)
Yes, although it really doesn't taste salty. Just salt it as much or little as you like
I use pink Himalayan because it's not as strong but makes the meat taste better.I'm C, Mummy to DS 29/11/2010 and DD 02/11/2013

Needed to pop out to get a few bits including a couple of camping chairs which, although bought in Mr Ts come from a different budget. Decided to do Icel*nd on the way back as need loo rolls this week and it's a bit out of the way when I do my main shop on a Thursday which is a very busy day for me anyway so means it'll save me half hour or so tomorrow. Spent £19.15 in Mr Ts but only £9.15 to add to GC plus £2 in Icel*nd. So a lost opportunity for NSD today!
Will update signature now.

Well I popped out for a four pint of milk from Mr T's and spent £6.25. Failed miserably with that one.

Hello all. I have not been on here for about a week, been very busy. Me and OH have had a couple of NSDs, but on the days we have spent we have spent a bit. The biggest beig today for our weekly shop. It was more expensive than what we normally spend, mainly because we run out of olive oil and we decided to get the 2L bottle to save in the long run, but did cost us £6
. We also run out of a few other things so the total for the week up to today is £64.39, with our monthly costs up to £131.01.
Me and OH have had a talk and we will try our hardest to eat out of the freezer and not go to the shops on a whim. Hopefully we will get under our target.Joined April 2015 :j0 -
Topped up with some fresh fruit, veg and potatoes today.
Now have £115 to last the next 3 weeks. I really hope i can do this!
I have 2 cupboards full of tinned and dried goods(beans, lentils, herbs, spices, grains, carbs), a freezer with veggies and other bits and bobs in, loads of almond milk, rice, pasta etc. Shouldn't need much else apart from F&V for the month.
Doing it during term time is hard enough, let alone school holidays!0 -
My food spending is on my list of things to cut back, so I'll think I'll join in the fun and games here! :j
I've been noting down my spending for a few years without really paying attention it (tut tut), and looking back I can see that in the first six months of this year, I spent £886.87 on food, which works out at £34.11 per week. That's too high!
I'd like to get it down to £25 per week, but first off will try to regularly come under £30. To do so I've started doing some proper meal planning to try to only buy what I need and not waste so much. I also want to add a bit more variety rather than buying the same old things, and also reduce portion sizes since I do overdo it a bit at times (and still eat it all!). I need to cut back on snacking between meals too.
I tend to do a weekly shop on a Saturday morning, and with five Saturdays this month, I've set the August budget to £150.00. The two shops so far have been £24.85 (after a £5 voucher) and £32.77, so £57.62 total.Debt tracker ~ June 2015: £9,577.83 ~ January 2016: £7,913.22 ~ 17.38% debt paid!

Hiya everyone :hello:
A warm welcome to the thread Itsa and good luck with the challenge. Please ask away if you need any help
Had another NSD today.
We had HM Coq au Vin (freezer) with new potatoes and steamed veggies. I cooked a large mushroom to have with mine on the side as DH can't eat them. I have a portion left for me for Friday, together with half the mushroom, so that's an easy dinner with jacket spud and frozen veg, plus it's one of my favourite meals anyway. DH is on late/night shift so will probably have mince and veggies for a late lunch before he goes.
Hope you all have a super Thursday

Small spend today in L*dls - 89p on milk and £1.79 on cat litter, both essentials so ok with that!
Breakfast with HM bread toasted with peanut butter and jam, lunch was tuna and sweetcorn pasta, had a HM lime cupcake (totally gorgeous!) as a snack and made a big lentil and mushroom lasagne for dinner with the remnants of a bag of salad. Enough leftover lasagne frozen to be another mealPart time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
