Cannot 'Thank' Posts over 1 year old

We've just noticed that the 'Thanks' button does not appear on posts over one year old.

I've just tested this on the TTC thread on the Families board - I cannot thank the post that is 16/07/2014 6pm, but can still thank the post that is 16/07/2014 9:30pm.

Is this a new policy, MSE?

Has been like that for a few years at least as far as I recall? Can't find the previous discussion at the moment.

Nope. Can't find the discussion. To be honest it's not something I notice much either, so I can't pin a very accurate date on when it happened. Certainly not something brand new anyway.

Presumably someone has set a non zero period in this Post Thank You Hack option.

Disable Giving Thanks if Post is X Days Old
This option allows you to disable the giving of new thanks to any post that is older then the amount of days you post here. Thanks given prior to the cut off date, will still show up. Put '0' to disable.

No, that's exactly it - it's correctly set on 0.

So it's gone into prioritisation for the techies to look into it

As said, noticed this a long while ago and just assumed it had been set deliberately.

Not certain, but I maybe (very maybe) remember MSE team member commenting on that there had been some change, but it's a hard thing to search for and find on the forum as there are just too many references to the thanks button.

Just been checking a few threads and I can see that the cut off is set at exactly 365 days, just as if that option was set at that figure.

In fact it is so exact that in the same thread it is to the mimute at 365 days.

The next post made 21-07-2014, 1:39 PM I CAN thank at present.

Presumably in 7 minutes I won't be able to......

Yes, @ 1:39PM on the dot I lost the ability to thank the 2nd of those 2 posts.

So there is most definitely a hard 365 day limit being set by the hack or something else, no matter what the option in the AdminCP may appear to be set at.
