My Journey To My Pot Of Gold

Love the idea of having free days and not focusing on moolah! The FIRE blog I read a while ago said about the importance of free hobbies! Hoping walking is mine, though I do buy cakes/drinks etc as an incentive and rest!haha. I hope your neighbour pulls their finger out and let you know either way soon, nothing worse than waiting around. Other house sounds awesome!

Walking is a great free event Jodles. I'm starting with walking and then hoping to quickly gain momentum (both figuratively and literally) to start running and climbing stairs etc. I don't see anything wrong in rewarding yourself for the walks you do. Lots of people tell me they exercise purely because they love their food so much. I think that's the perfect compromise.0

I finally heard from my neighbour yesterday who tells me that the amount the bank are prepared to offer him for a mortgage falls £60K short of my asking price, and that he has another source of finance which he'll look at next week and get back to me!
So he's obviously not a viable option because any finance he gets elsewhere will either need to go through some very strict criteria to be accepted and/or the bank will amend their offer accordingly.
Immediately after he told me that I've booked two plasterers to quote me this weekend for the room I have that desperately needs an update. One will be arriving at any moment and the other is coming to see me on Monday evening with a view to starting work in 2 weeks. I've also booked a B&Q trip to get some bits and pieces I can sort out to make other rooms look better. So the next few weekends will be a bit fraught but will all be worth it.
To help fund all of this I'll be sorting some things out today and doing a boot sale tomorrow, weather permitting! I'm also going to take photos of some clothes and bags I have and brave eBay again.
My matured regular saver has finally disappeared from my internet banking page, so should see the interest amount and be able to put that into its new home very soon.
My new regular saver has been opened! So I'm organised for holidays next year.
So this weekend is all about the clearing out - and hopefully finding the shopping money I "put away safe!"
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend.

Lots sorted out this weekend. I've packed a few more boxes up. I've also started to go through my huge clothes pile and have put a bagful aside for Cash4Clothes. I've added 8 to eBay with lots more to do. I've also put 2 expensive books up for sale on Amazon and sorted lots more for Ziffit. I should be able to post the ziffit stuff off tomorrow.
I've also booked a plasterer!!!! He got to me on time yesterday and had the quote to me by lunchtime which worked out as expected based on a quote site I'd found, so I booked him immediately. He'll start 2 weeks tomorrow.
I didn't get the boot sale done as I've been on a roll with sorting out and wanted to keep up that momentum. I have put lots of stuff aside for a boot sale that will happen next week! Lots of ways of finding extra cash, which is likely to be needed now that I need to spruce my place up now.
I hope everyone is having a fun weekend.

This weekend was pretty productive. Some packing done at home and lots of sorting out.
I've added 14 things to eBay and have taken photos of lots more to put up this weekend. I was hoping to add around 5 things a day, but think it may get a bit much rushing home to pack up parcels and going to the post office each lunchtime. Although, having said that, why not? Maybe I'll add a few more bits this evening!
Lots more boot sale stuff dug out so that will definitely happen this weekend.
I also received my M&S regular saver and earned just under £100 in interest, so I'm very happy with that. I've put it aside to maybe pay off the credit card, but I like the incentive of selling items to get the credit card paid. I'm not sure I'd be so motivated if I didn't have that outstanding balance!
I've brought in my breakfast, although I did pop into Tesco to get some fruit as it's the same price in the Metro store as in the Extra store so I didn't see the harm in that and I didn't have to carry it in.
It's looking like a busy week at work so I'd best push forward!
Have a great week everyone!

I have decided to set myself some 14 day challenges to really get a specific area sorted at a time.
So, over the next 14 days I will:
Clear the dining room
Paint the dining room
Paint the living room
Get all coving put up in the downstairs rooms
Along with that I'll still need to keep on top of putting clothes and unwanted items for sale.
I work better with a goal in mind rather than worrying about all aspects of everything!

Wow, I'm seriously impressed. Are you taking any time off to do this?
I agree about targets and goals otherwise it's all too much. I think I'll take a leaf out of your book....

No, DIA, I won't be taking time off to do this as I generally have 4 day weekends with my part time work. So I need to fit it in around those.
I definitely need goals otherwise I get lost!

All YNAB is up to date, but I need to spend some time today organising my accounts.
I received lots of useful information yesterday about one of the properties I'm interested in. It's an off plan contract reassignment, which make things a little more complicated than a straight forward off plan, although hopefully not by much.
I've booked an appointment for next week with my bank to discuss mortgage options, so that I know what's on offer for when I seriously look.
I was hoping to get home last night and take more photos of items but I was SO tired. I did force myself to cook something nutritious, and I enjoyed that, but then I just flopped into bed and slept through the night, which isn't like me! The bonus is that I woke 2 minutes before my alarm so no sudden appearance to the day!
One of my items on eBay has a bid now! Finally! Nothing else has, but that generally happens on a 7 day auction. I've also decided to put everything else I have up on Sunday evening. I have the plasterer coming the following week, so packaging up the parcels will give me something to focus on while he's there as I'm starting to get a bit anxious about having a strange man in my house all day again! Which I'm aware is madness!
Tonight I have a visit to B&Q to get the coving and paint etc that I'll need to meet my 14 day challenge! I'm sadly excited about it too! It feels good being on a path, and one I feel I can achieve too!
So. we're halfway through the week and I have a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a fox!!! It's very cheesy but I'm feeling like I've grabbed my future and am taking back control!
Which means that the girls are well and truly required today!
Have a great Hump Day all! MTxx0 -
Another inspiring post. Well done on finding a plasterer. It sounds like it's all happening for you. Loving the dancing girlsIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
