Can I do anything else with lettuce other than salad?

I have been given some homegrown veg by a friend, one of which is lettuce. I'm not going to be able to eat it all myself so thought about making a soup out of it.
So far I've thought of adding to the lettuce:-
peas
pepper
onion
potato
Can I make a soup out of all these ingredients?
Sorry if I'm asking a dumb question but I've never thought of making soup out of lettuce before and not sure where to begin.Did owe £9,951.96

There's a lettuce soup recipe hereI'm sure your additions would be delicious. I'll add this to that thread later to keep ideas together.

As a matter of fact this very day I found some spare lettuce in the fridge, and threw it into the slow cooker with some other vegetable ingredients and an oxo cube, and the cooked lettuce was perfectly OK.0

Well I made my soup but think I may have put too many peas in as all I can taste is pea and also I think I may have cooked the peas for too long as it's not too nice a pea taste. What might I be able to add to the soup to try and water down the pea taste a bit?Did owe £9,951.96

More potato maybe? You'd have to cook the potato first, then add it and whizz the lot.
Leeks? Onion or spring onion?
Some subtle extra seasoning?
It's difficult to suggest the right thing as I like pea soup so wouldn't object to the pea flavour!0 -

Maybe I'll try and get some leeks tomorrow as I quite like leek and potato soup so hopefully the leek will add a bit more flavour.
I don't think you'd like this. I must have cooked the whole lot for nearly an hour before I blitzed it so it really is that horrid peas cooked for too long taste :mad:Did owe £9,951.96

I have a nasty feeling that you might waste the leeks because the soup will still taste quite strongly of overcooked peas.
Get the leeks and make fresh soup tomorrow!
You could always regard the soup you've made so far as a sort of base, and add a tin of tomatoes, some tinned beans and some chilli powder...chilli soup! Serve it with a splosh of natural yoghurt and some granary bread. The chilli and tomatoes will overpower the icky flavour and at least you'll be getting some vegetables into your system...

You're probably right. I'll see if I've got any of those things already in the cupboard otherwise I'll just start from scratch.
It was supposed to be a lettuce soup to use up some lettuce a friend gave me from his garden and I thought by adding the peas it would make it taste nice. I think I just got carried away and ended up spoiling what could have been a nice soupDid owe £9,951.96

hi
I was given a pile of lettuce from someone's allotment. I washed it leaf by leaf and it is now soaking it in in a bucket.
we are having HM burgers, so will use a bit of it, but what then? any ideas, anyone.
thank you0 -
Lettuce soup is yummy on warm evenings. What sort of lettuce is it? More like iceberg or romaine? If it's the "meatier" stuff like romaine, you can use it as a green in cooked dishes, just be gentle with it (it doesn't need as much cooking as, for example, cabbage). If it's iceberg I think your options are just soup or salad!0
