help working out HB/Bedroom tax shortfall please

Two bed house. One room considered spare.
rent is 582.70
I get £226.32 a fortnight in HB.

By my reckoning that is more than 14% deduction isn't it?

I also receive ESA and PIP - are they taking that into account and deducting further?

Thank you in advance for your help (and hopefully no judgements...)

Is the rent figure monthly, four weekly or for two weeks? I'm assuming it is social housing and not a private rental?

Do you not have a breakdown of their calculation?

It's Housing Association and that amount comes out the first of every month. Sorry I don't have my paperwork to hand and to be honest find it all quite confusing to read anyway :(

from my rough calculation, your housing benefit should be about £231.30 a fortnight. thats with the 14% reduction taken into account.
are you on costs based or income related ESA ?
    do you have any savings?
    is there a service charge?

Just to confirm, your rent is £582.70 and not £528.70? Dont' know if I trust my calculations but I wonder if they've transposed the numbers. Can you dig out your letter and check.

if your rent is monthly then I work it out to be 16% not 14%.

Are you paying any service charges or overpayments or in Scotland?

there is no 'bedroom tax' in scotland. the scottish parliament are covering the whole shortfall
the OP's details say they are in Ilford, Essex

The bedroom tax is levied in Scotland, the Scottish government is covering the 10% reduction in the Council Tax benefit that individual councils in England have to find from their other residents, so the discounts in Scotland have remained the same as pre April 2013.

But the Bedroom tax is universal throughout Scotland as England

I get £230.65 so we boh agree thats its short.

Are you entitled to 100% housing benefit (Ignoring to benefit reduction for extra room - Ie any other income etc that could affect housing benefit?)

Check your award letter for details.

Trust the Record to try to take the credit! The bedroom tax is mitigated by the Scottish government at the moment through Discretionary Housing Payments, but it does still exist.
