Any O2 cashback deals?
We're up for new contracts in september so I've had a browse around for new deals ... but can't find anyone offering an O2 full cashback (plenty of Vodaphone, t-mobile, 3). Also, the places I've looked state that they won't support any sort of porting to o2 which is a shame, I'd rather keep our numbers. Clearly time has moved on since last year (and the year before, and year before that!
) when I was in a similar boat, presumably O2 aren't paying connection comission as well as vodaphone ... and have changed their rules to cancel the comission if a number is ported. If anyone can help with recommendations for something appropriate I'd like to hear from you, or if you have any info on whats change please post - I'd like to understand why I'm having trouble ... then I can stop looking for the elusive deal. Sadly the reestit mutton site is very out of date now ... is there somewhere else I could look?
Long term I may have to jump networks _and_ loose our numbers rather than shell out for 2 contracts (*shiver*), but if I can keep with O2 (and bounce through a free non-o2 PAYG sim) to keep 08XXX inclusion in the monthly allowance as well as included data downloads and coverage that I'm comfortable with then I'd rather stick.
Cheers,
Duncan.

Try this website they do have a few for O2 on there. I used the phonespot (CPW) not so long ago to change to an O2 contract from Virgin and ported my number. I used quidco.com and got £50 cashback and 12 free contract (after cashback)

The CPW companies (CPW, OSPS, E2SAVE) seem to have good 02 deals at the moment. They are also seen as one of safest options for cashback deals. I think it is a real shame than CPW do not do Vodafone deals anymore.0 -
Blimey, so they do ... last time I looked at e2save they had nothing. Thanks. !0

Just got my new contract with E2Save (CPW). Got a good deal with 11 months cashback on samsung d900 - its in the clearance section. Also got £33.50 for going through quidco, which in turn pays for the final month.November wins...a book, a designer handbag (worth £550 :T) and a game. I am now an addict and thank everyone for taking the time to share and post.

Please E2save, OSPS and PhoneSpot are not CPW! They may be owned byt CPW BUT they are still run seperatly.
If you want less hassle buy direct from CPW. They do have some (potentially) 12 month free deals if you get quidco and sell the phone.
But at least you know you are going to get your money back.0 -
There are two very important points having read the above comments. Firstly to all intent and purposes all these companies are part of CPW and nowadays most of the deals are identical except on the Carphone Warehouse main site where the deals are far less attractive. Secondly (and of extreme importance) is something which people have not yet realised in relation to their so called "price match deals". In about 6 weeks time when the first claims are made in relation to these recent T&Cs there are going to be a lot of angry and disappointed customers. Whilst I agree that these are the safer places to use and have many contracts with them myself, they are becoming increasingly dishonest and now seem to have an almost total lack of regard for their customers. Originally I thought the only things they were matching were the T&Cs of the competitor but certainly not their deals. However, I have established recently that they are not matching the T&Cs either. In fact what they are doing is ignoring the specific and clear "price match" T&Cs they refer people to when purchasing these contracts and people are going to find that they are actually using unrelated T&Cs which are almost identical to the previous ones operated by OneStopPhoneShop. It's very complicated but it is highly likely that at least half of the people who make valid claims by following the "price match" T&Cs will find their claims rejected (together with therefore all future claims) because they are late. The only recourse left for such people will be to sue and there is absolutely no doubt they will win provided they have copied and followed the "price match" T&Cs which were highlighted when they purchased their contracts. You have been warned.0

Totally agree with warning on e2save's Price Match deals. In a few months time, this forum will attract furious consumers who may lose ALL their cashback entitlements due to these FAR FAR stringent terms no doubt designed to suck in the trusting public.
Also just noticed there are some great 12 month free contracts on Mobileshop's website. The question is, will they be around long enough to honour them with all the problems encountered over the past year?0 -
This is precisely why I will now not budge from CPW. I had previously got deals from both e2save and OSPS but since the new dodgy deals, I would not touch them - and this is coming from a person who has not lost a single cashback yet! a total of 3 successful contracts (plus an upgrade!), and not had any major problems.
This reminds me of the Natwest advert 'we put a big fat juicy worm on the hook...'.0 -
Wow - thanks for the tip off. Can we get to the bottom of this please? Looks like we should get ahead of the game and try to minimise the hassle that might crop up. If we get the right info maybe Martin will include it in the weekly flyer so that everyone on one of these price match deals can get their claims in on at the right time.
So - I've had a look around thephonespot and e2save's website this morning - there is only 1 section for cashback claim dates ... nothing specific to price match cashback claims. The definiton as I read it is that the company is matching the deal (free phone, line rental of X when averaged over the year) - how and when the cashback claims are made are not stated as part of the match, the standard cashback t&c for the company are in force.
This is what you guys (guys? can't tell from your usernames
) are saying is wrong. So, is there a 2nd standard set of t&c for matched deals? Or are they requiring the cashback dates & t&c of the matchee company to come into force (phoneboxdirect use 5 claims at 6, 8, 9, 10, and 12; etc)?
If it makes things easier to discuss ... I'm in favour of the nokia n80 deal on both thephonespot and e2save. Its a match clearance, 12 month contract @ £45/month with 10 months free by cashback. Total cost £90, £7.50/month when averaged over 12 months. Thephonespot's faq:
*The full amount will be paid to you over 3 separate payments.
*We simply require your 4th, 8th then 12th airtime bills to arrive with us within 1 month of the date stated on the airtime bill (sending photocopies is advisable so that you can keep the originals for your records).
*Full details of precisely which bills to send and how much you will receive are contained in the email regarding your offer we sent you soon after your phone was despatched.
e2save's faq when given August 07 as the purchase date:
For Gift value over £100 you should send the following airtime bills to us: January 2008, March 2008, May 2008, July 2008 within one month of the bill date stated on the bill.
-- there's a statement in TPS's conditions there that they'll send full details by email after the phone is sent ... is that happening?

NO DUNCAN! the n80 is a price match deal!!!!! This means the T&C are different to the normal ones. Normal T&C require 4, 8 and 12. Price match is 6, 8, 10, 12.
I would not touch it. Go to CPW and get a not so good deal (but still free one you get quidco and sell phone).0
