I have used Carrington Carr years ago and set up my last mortgage with them, yes they did charge aprox £2k but did save me a lot more, I had them out again a couple of years ago and they suggested I stay on my current deal and not to move, so he didn't try to sell me a package just to get sales. I like them and would use them again.0

I`ve just had them out.:eek:I have a 90k mortgage with 12 years left on it. The fee was £2100. The solicitors £800, and when they come back in 2 years it`s another 0.75% fee everytime they come out after that. I have another broker coming out but I can`t find anything about them. Freshly financed can anyone help as this is tedious0

I have had them calling me for over a year as we thought our mortgage was up last year now a few weeks ago they rang again were given all our details and were sending someone over to see us about our re mortgage then a few hours before they were menat to arrive we got to call so say they could not save us money and would not be coming now.
This was a load of CR*P we were changing the type of mortage were having and go to repayment there was no such thing as not being able to lower our costs as this was not what we were asking and this should of been an easy sale for them. now we are left inthe lurch and have to start from the begining. this company is the biggest waste of time and i would not recommend using them to anyone. they hound you from a email or form you may of filled out onthe interent and then wont leave you alone after please steer clear of this companyStill TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

Sounds like the people that call you from the call centre are not fully qualified Mortgage Advisors - they are call centre staff working against basic criteria who call everyone on mass who completed a survey of some kind.
Once you are called and appear to meet the basic criteria they then book you in. The details are then most likely reviewed by a more specialist (sales or pre-sales Mortgage Advisor) who would then make a go or no-go decision. I guess they reviewed your situation and decided it was not worth going.0 -

Why are you responding now to a post put up in August 2007? Also your post doesn't make any sense. This is a consumer revenge forum, it is not a place to try and either discredit competition nor for ex employees to vent their frustrations.
I would hope people reading this will have the intelligence to see through your poorly constructed post.
ETA Cummings, FYI - large companies have larger premises and more staff because they have more customers than smaller companies with fewer customers and fewer staff. It's not unusual for Mortgage advisers to be self employed, what do you think the local IFA is? I don't understand what you mean by "all the middle men". The idea is there is one middle man the broker, the same as an IFA as far as I'm aware. Finally I think any business dealing with the number of enquiries that Carrington Carr do needs to have a call centre to deal with it otherwise no business would ever get completed, especially in the current lending climate.
Perhaps the middle men that ETA mentions is the Solicitors that Carrington Carr have dealings with that they get a kick back from for their huge fees and the 'WILL FEES' that people are shoehorned into - oh yes the person who runs that company is the Sales Directors father!!!0 -
awd bad news i had a 40 grand morgage now have 110 they encouraged us to consolidate and now house prices have dropped we have very little money in the house and will be lucky to get a decent morgage when its due for renewal. also they really over insured us, when we moved we were paying out over 100 quid a month in different policies and when i rang to speak to the advisor about it she was in the carribean (probably with the commission from all the insurance she sold us) they also sold me ppi inappropriatley so im trying to get that back from them now, i would steer clear the one we met definatley only had her money making in mind when she saw us.0

We were left in exactly the same position. Our fixed rate finished in may but we couldnt find a better deal as no equity. We have successfully claimed the PPI back + interest and a quarter of the broker fee. Definitely go for it.0 -
At the time AWD seemed like a good idea but having remortgaged again and due again in January, we are sooooo glad we found this website which led us to L&C who found us a great deal with no fees and are more than happy to give advice 18 months after and still talking to the same advisor! Will be talking to them again soon.0

How did you go about reclaiming some of the broker fee? We remortgaged in 2005 and paid £1659 in broker fees, £4050 for a MPPI and consolidated debts which would have been paid off now! damn being young and inexperienced....
