Hi everyone
Hope you are all well.
Looking forward to Tuesday - new month, new {lower} debt total :j:j
Much as I hate Barclaycard because they insist on continuing to charge interest - they are the only accounts I can continue to check online. All of the others are now either defaulted or in the process of being defaulted, which is great, but to check balances I need to phone
Never mind - I know they are all at zero interest and so can calculate the ongoing balances. I think I will phone every six months or so and confirm the balance though (well....maybe once a year on the anniversary of the DMP because I don't really want to phone the creditors and have to engage in pointless conversations about what I can or cannot afford if I don't have).
Have a great Friday everyoneDFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
It is funny and you are forgiven!:D
Well I've done it, I can officially say that I am debt free:j:j:j
Four and a half years, it has gone very quickly really, so for all you DMPers out there, stick at it, your time will come.
Car goes in tomorrow, I'm hoping I don't have to beat the starter motor with the poker:p
Many thanks to Mrs TTFTM for tipping me off to the fantastic news.
Very pleased for you
You made my journey easier and I appreciated your friendship so it brings me double pleasure to say well done and hope you enjoy your next chapter.

January, thanks for that, it says exactly what I've been thinking too:T
I so look forward to the first of every month now when my StepChange DD is paid and I'm one more month closer to the magic DFD:j. The downside of that is that I'm wishing my life away. Can't wait for September 2019 but don't want to be that much older:eek:
I'm with you too on the lack of internet balance-checking now accounts have been defaulted/closed. I hate phoning creditors:( even though things are running smoothly for now. On the plus side, I'm saving myself a lot of time as in the old days I was forever online checking balances and payments in all my accounts:o.
All my creditors send me an annual statement in the post so I tend to just assume all is well in the meantime and rely on that for concrete evidence.0 -

I can so relate to you there. I am definitely wishing the days would turn into months so that I can make another DMP payment. My life is 'wished away' right through to 2023:rotfl::rotfl:carbootcrazy wrote: »I'm with you too on the lack of internet balance-checking now accounts have been defaulted/closed. That is brilliant news to me :T:T I am only 10 months into my DMP (I'm including December's DMP payment in that 10 months because it's only a few days away....;)) and I was not aware creditors would send annual statements. I can cross worrying about phoning them up once a year now. Brilliant:beer:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Sorry if I've given you any false hope, January. My creditors send statements but I'm not sure if everyone does. If you don't receive anything through the post after the year is up you could try phoning them then:).

No worries Carbootcrazy - however, you have given me a little bit of knowledge with which to research the internet;)
I found this on Citizens Advice website - so it seems to comply with Consumer Credit Act 1974 creditors should be sending annual statements even when customers are in DMPs.
If you hadn't posted about receiving annual statements I wouldn't have given it a thought to look up this fact.
Thank you :beer:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
One of life's little pleasures ????
Oh yes....it's Stepchange statement day :rotfl:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
I love your enthusiasm January 😀
I have to say that is 4 weeks to Christmas (sorry folks!), I'm 75% done with my Christmas shopping (just waiting for next pay day to finish it) and we still have money in the bank!!! That far outweighs the negative stuff that comes with a dmp, just not having to constantly worry how to pay everything! Last year, Christmas was done on ccs and we would have definitely had a minus balance 2 weeks before payday!! Can't believe our LBM was nearly a year ago, where has the time gone.[STRIKE][/STRIKE]LBM January 2015:(

Oh Scaredofdebt I can so relate to this post.
Christmas 2014 was done on Credit Cards and Catalogue buy now pay later
You can see from my signature my LBM was 7th Jan (two weeks after Christmas last year). Thinking about it now, I remember worrying about Christmas and paying for things and thinking just enjoy it and deal with it later - what a stupid way to deal with things
I cannot believe how fast {almost} a year has gone by. It has been the happiest year we have had since foreverYes, we have had ups and downs, occasional panics when cars break down and emergency fund has been depleted - but it doesn't matter.
We no longer even think about things we want - we think about things as and when we need them and then try and work out how we can do without them :rotfl:
Christmas shopping has been a planned process throughout the year - loft is fairly stacked with bargains bought at 80% + discount throughout the year. We have a large family so we allocated £30 per month for Christmas and birthdays and have managed to stick to that quite well (some months we didn't spend anything and other months saw the perfect presents and spent double). A few more pressies as I don't have any for two of my grandchildren yet and we are done. Nothing on credit, debts have been paid, bank account in credit - what a way to approach Christmas (even if the balance owed to creditors is still huge;))
Yes, I am enthusiastic about my DMP, my life and most of all about our debt free future:beer:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
Oh Scaredofdebt - I've just realised your LBM and DMP start date align perfectly with mine
You can probably guess from my username that I sat here last January2015 trying desperately to think of a name to register on the forum. I wasn't very inventive, was I :rotfl:
Still, I like my username - it is a permanent reminder of the point in time that was the beginning of the rest of my life;)DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0
