Hello fellow dmp'ers...
So firstly.. its nearly.. :xmastree: and hopefully all of you are organised.. maybe not as organised as January 2015.. but as we all now have budgets to work with this time of year is no longer a surprise.. a painful one at that...!!
I am posting slightly ahead of my 2 year anniversary of being on a dmp as payment doesn't go until Tuesday.. but as of that date I will be ..
In the 45k's.... much nicer than when I started at £60062..... and will have paid off 23.7%.
I still love my dmp, I would love to bring the dfd forward but also enjoy a much better quality of life than I did when I was supporting all the poor creditors with the huge interest payments I was making each month...
No news from the PRat group so I am hoping they will reappear on my noddle account soon with a big fat D, if not I will be writing to see what is occurring.. Assuming they do default as they should I am then going after Creation who are my only interest charging creditor albeit £9 a month but its the AP markers I don't like so that is my job for 2016...
The last 2 years have flown past, which is sad and scary but like the rest of you I love the debt figures dropping and a massive positive is we will all get through the tunnel and back into the light eventually.. my light has started to glimmer a little brighter as the months have gone by.

It is funny and you are forgiven!:D
Well I've done it, I can officially say that I am debt free:j:j:j
Four and a half years, it has gone very quickly really, so for all you DMPers out there, stick at it, your time will come.
Car goes in tomorrow, I'm hoping I don't have to beat the starter motor with the poker:p
Congratulations and we'll done. It must be an amazing feeling [STRIKE][/STRIKE]LBM January 2015:(

Way to go Puzz. I'm so pleased for you..and sooo jealous you found your lightbulb whilst I was still funding mine on credit cardsI wish we were 2 years in....oh there I go - wishing my life away again:rotfl:
Still, as you say the light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter with each DMP payment and the we will get there. Thank you so much for your posts and inspiration. It's people like you who inspired me to take this leap into DMP land in the first place and who keep me sane and my chin up when I do have down days (less often than ever now).

I'm very annoyed. I swapped energy suppliers in Feb this year and paid what I thought was a final bill. Not thought anything about it until I receive a random email from them saying my bill is ready. Turns out the previous bill was for gas only and I owe for the electricity originally to the tune of £101.00. I queried the meter reads and once adjusted I owe £91.00. Really not happy as this is months later and just before Christmas.
My question is do I struggle to pay it or add to the DMP and is this worthy of a written complaint.
Thoughts please, TIA

Sorry to repost everyone but really could do with your (very experienced) thoughts on this one. Think my original post (quite rightly) got lost in the celebration of a fellow DMPer becoming debt free :T

I'm a fairly new DMPer, but I would definitely complain. I would also add it to my DMP but if adding a debt you need to do a review (at least with SC you do). I would make them wait for their money and not make my family have any less for Christmas because they can't get their act together

Thanks for the response January, this was my thoughts initially but just frustrating as you think you finally have everything sorted. Think a review is a good idea as I was originally saving £50 per month until Jan as part of my DMP to pay for Christmas but have been fortunate enough to secure a few extra shifts worked in November which 'fingers crossed' should cover Christmas with 3 kids. I have told them about the DMP and I have to wait 7-10 days for the bill to be generated so have a bit of thinking time but will probably look to adding to DMP and a complaint as when she looked back they had received the meter readings in a timely fashion so no excuse for the delayed bill.

Sorry your post was overlooked, stormpassing:(. It's easy for us to get a bit carried away when someone becomes debt-free, it's such a life-changing event and a major achievement:j
I can't offer any advice based on experience but I'm sure someone else will be able to help now your post has been 'bumped' up the thread.
I think January was right in what she said. In my own case, whenever I've had any problems or something worrying happens with my finances I always phone StepChange and discuss it with someone. They are very helpful as they've heard most of our problems before. They will give you advice about what to do next.
Good Luck:beer:0 -
I can totally relate with you all regarding wishing your life away:o
I'm 5 1/2 years into my DMP and the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to burn quite brightly. Those 5 years have passed very quickly and I can't help but think that this time next year I will be debt-free although unfortunately I will be a year older:o

Thanks CBC,
Totally get why my post got lost and I was right in there with the celebrations. It's awe inspiring when someone makes it especially when you are right at the start of your journey. Like I said I have thinking time and will definitely tak to SC but the advice and experience on here is invaluable so thought I would run it past you guys first to get your thoughts. Rushing in headlong without thinking is part of what got me into this mess in the first place
All responses and thoughts much appreciated, I really value this thread and the DFW forum as a whole :T:A
Thanks again,
