Eventually we would like to go self managed to get the defaults starting as soon as possible. We have managed to rack up debts of around £60k between us. Redundancy and having two small kids has been partly to blame, but ultimately it is down to bopth opf us being terrible with money and getting into the balance transfer spiral - convincing ourselves that this time we will pay it off but always ending up talking on more and more debt.
Anyway, i just wanted to say that all the posts on here have made me feel much more confident and relaxed about the whole process - so thanks (thanks in advance for all the idiotic questions i will no doubt be asking you in the future too!)

Hi stig ( love the username, I read that book at school)
I too have asked lots of questions and always received excellent advice. I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for this thread
Good luck

Hello everyone,
Yesterday, I paid my final payment to SC after 6 years and 8 months and it felt fantastic:j For all of us this is our ultimate goal and I just wanted to say if you are starting out on your DMP or partway through, keep going! I feel as though a huge weight has now been lifted and I can look forward to a debt-free life.
It hasn't been an easy ride and there have been obstacles along the way but in the end it has been worth the effort. I have learnt so much and my attitude to finance has totally changed for the better. I will carry those lessons with me for the rest of my life.
I want to say thank you to everyone on this thread past and present. This was my go to place in my darkest times, the advice and comfort I received here can't be measured. You all kept me sane, offered me advice, made me laugh and I have made virtual friends whom I think very fondly of:T
Here's to each and every one of you, the bubbly is flowing at Ellie Mansions today:beer: (it's Bucks Fizz really...see, very MSE:money:)
Take care

Hi Ellie
I said it on the Milestone Inn thread - I am so pleased for you. However, I am also so proud of you:D That may sound strange to some - because I really only know you in this virtual world of folk who are in (or have been) in debt. It doesn't matter to me that I only know you in this virtual world - you are a real person and you are a friend who has triumphed and for that I am proud of your achievement.
Enjoy every minute of this wonderful feeling.
