  • Happy Friday, all a little boring in BB Land. Into month 3 of my no-payment sabbatical and even that is still a little uneventful.

Written to the Preditor asking for a letter from a medical professional about why illness has stopped our payments. I bet you can all imagine what I wrote :D

MIL has just downsized and written off a few K we owed her. Not that she was battering our door down for it, but it was always there in the background, so very nice of her. She has offered us a lump sum too, but as we are 0% on it all and doing ok really not going to take her up on it. Might see when F&F time happens next year after all the defaults.

Thinking of stringing it along for an extra couple of non payment months now with the money going to F&Fs to the 2 debts out with bottom feeders already.

    Happy Days

Ooh Jan, you credit pariah you ;)

It's amazing how much I laughed at my 'not meeting the eligibility requirements'

What a change 2 years can have on our perspective of being refused access to bank accounts :rotfl:

How many months have you not made payments for? StepChange made the last payment in November, and I've paid nothing since.
  • I was on noddle this month and saw my "credit" number is creeping up, so as a laugh I clicked the link to the cards it said I could get even now. Amazingly there are about 4 that were 100% pre-application guaranteed. Credit builders with high interest, but mainstream in there, well capital one if they are classed as mainstream.

Totally mad if you ask me.

My last payments self managed were in October.

We re just now getting a few creditors being a little more pushy asking for a revised budget sheet.
I am intending to do one, but I'm in no rush and when I do it will look vastly different from the StepChange one as I'm trying to get the accounts sold on as soon as I can.

Argos sent a letter saying if we didn't contact them they would presume we were going to start making our full payments again!
One account is now being handled by a debt collection agency, although it's not been sold on.

It's nice to hear from other more experienced members on here who are also non payers!!!
  • hello all, I just wanted to say hi - and also thanks! even though you don't know me.
Im a long time debtor - but have just taken the steps to get it sorted once and for all.
Ive just signed up to a DMP with step change. Only the first step but at least i've asked for help.
Im not too bad, so end date is looking like just over 3 years away. hopefully less as I have a loan with a family member which ends in just over 2 years.
Thanks for all the advice you don't know you've been giving me! I hope to get to know you all and share a debt free future with you :)
    xx

I too have been trying to get debts sold on by non payment, although they just seem to be sitting with collectors working on behalf of, at the moment!

    Hi Blisteringblue and make_the_change

We've been self managed for one year now. We did full payments from April this year, but dropped back down to token payments in October/November. We're sticking with token payments to save for F&Fs and get those debts sold on. Most (not BC) are with DCAs but are being 'managed' by said DCAs rather than having been sold on.

It's a waiting game for the origianl predators to sell the debts - but we will get there eventually :)

    Hi and welcome :wave::wave:

Well done of taking the plunge into DMPland - it really is a wonderful place.

Don't forget to delay the start of your DMP to allow you to save some emergency funds. This is so important as you will no longer have access to any credit and if something goes wrong (car / washing machine / etc) then you need to be able to have a fund saved you can dip into. We started our DMP process in January 2015 and payments started in March 2015. With hindsight I would have delayed the start until June 2015. It sounds a long time to not make payments to creditors but those months will also help you get the accounts defaulted and passed to DCAs much quicker. In DMPland this is one of the important goals.

    Any questions - just shout:beer:
