Finally got my email through confirming my dmp with SC has been set up.... bring on payment 1 and lets gets this debt chipped away at - however long it may take its not bloody coming back!!! Now the waiting to see who will accept and who won't... xx

    Well done!

I think you'll find that all creditors will accept once it's been put to them by someone like Stepchange, it's only the occasional one that doesn't play nicely. Unless your proposed payments are unacceptably low there should be no problem whatsoever. DM companies help people like us to find a solution that's acceptable to all concerned;).

Don't worry. Things will seem a whole lot brighter very soon:beer:

Welcome Tiggerlou - looking forward to joining you on this journey. We started last month. Still getting the odd depressing letter, but otherwise all quiet and calm here.

I used to collect there ridiculous letters, trying to find the most stupid one I could, some of them are so funny when you sit back and read them properly.

"If you don't pay your full outstanding balance of £4567,98 by 5 pm tommorow evening we MAY register a default on your credit file"

    Oow scared !!!!!!!

The "doorstep collector" threat was another good one, kept writing back telling them they couldn't have my bleeding doorstep and to stop asking !!!!

No, not really - just took one of them ages to confirm they accepted payment plan. The letters I've received have definitely been standardised computer generated ones so nothing too bad - but it's not nice seeing it all in writing!

    No calls at all!

Great work BDFSH, just remind us how you achieved this fantastic news

    Hi Sazzie,

To be honest we haven't had to fight that much.

Been paying BC since our DMP started back in Oct 2014, paying about 0.7% of the debt back each month. They stopped interest as soon as the DMP started and only once did we have any bother with them reapplying interest and that was when SC delayed sending them our updated I&E information following our yearly review. One phone call to them to inform them of our new I&E and the payment we were going to be making and they stopped the interest immediately and said that as we were on a DMP with SC no further interest would be applied to our account - and they stuck to their word!!

We had 3 letters threatening default and finally after waiting each month, and just continuing to pay via SC, we finally got that default!! :D

My hubby called them to check the default had been registered and that our new payment plan (exactly the same amount as last year) had been accepted. The chap in the recoveries dept said all had been agreed and that they were backdating the default to Oct 2014 informing us this would then drop off our credit file in 2020. We didn't even have to ask for the back date.

I guess we have been one of the lucky few who have had no major issues with BC.

Our nightmare creditor is the Co-operative who just keep putting AP markers on our credit file rather than issuing a default. Any advice from anyone who has dealt with them greatly appreciated!!

    Take care,

    BDFSH x

Ooh, that's very interesting to read! I'm thinking I'll definitely give it a go with ours too then, and ask them not only why haven't they defaulted, but ask them to backdate it as well.

    Hi Snowbean,

Definitely give it a go - worth a phone call. Each time my hubby has called them they have been really pleasant and very helpful. I guess if you don't ask you don't get - good luck!! :)

    Take care,

    BDFSH x

    Hey lovelies. :)

All quiet on the creditor front here. SC advised me to miss my August payment due to washing machine repairs etc so I'm starting again in September. :)

Housing Association have finally admitted that our water damaged floor is their fault. We've had an industrial-size humidifier for the past month trying to dry out underneath the kitchen vinyl and tomorrow they're taking the old vinyl up. Trouble is that the floor needs a good clean (especially down the side of the cooker. Eurgh!) but with the M.E. I don't have the energy to do it, but I don't want the floor guys to think we're slobs. :( *sigh*

Welcome to all of the newbies. This thread is a godsend. :) x
