Thanks Sazzie. Yes that's exactly what I understand about BC, which was why I was going to write to them to complain and see if I could push them to do it. You're right, it is with a dca, PRA group, and it's them that's reporting, I should have probably been more specific. However, it's been with them since about Sep last year, which is why it struck me as strange that the marker has suddenly changed. Think I might just go ahead and write to them anyway.
With the NW ones, I was looking through paperwork last night, and seems they when wrote to me to say that the accounts would be closed, this was around the same time as they've started marking as AR. Still seems unfair to be marking a cleared account that way though, so I think I'll write and complain, just to see what they say, as otherwise, presumably that account will end up loitering around on my file forever?0 -
Hi everyone, been nearly 2 years since I posted as after setting up my dmp and it's been practically trouble free so just let it run.
Any way after a bit of advice, I've recently taken a new job within the same company to get off nights as it's the right decision for my family. It does however pay less.
How receptive do you think stepchange and my creditors would be taking a drop in payments, from 191 to say 130 pcm for the next 12 months. Especially considering most of my debts now sit with third party debt collectors who accept the current arrangement with no fees or interest.0 -

Hi Idhme,
Just inform stepchange of the new arrangement, and the reasons for it, as you have explained above, they will contact your creditors for you.
They like it or lump it basically, normally if a DCA is unhappy with the return on there "investment" they simply sell it on to another DCA, may be a bit of merry go rounding, but all will settle again after a while, wouldn't worry too much about it to be honest.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi Idh
Think of the change in job as an investment that pays less know but more in the future... Think positive it might. Anyway, thinking in that light does less payment now with the hope of more in the future sound reasonable, course it does. Stepchange won't bat an eyelid unless you get one of their grumpy advisors which occasionally happens.
(Advice for anyone here, if you get a grumpy SC advisor, tell them your busy and can you call them back. When you ring back you generally get someone else and most are pretty helpful).
SC do say they write to creditors but I found it worked better if I wrote to them all when I reduced payments, £400+ down to £30, after 8 months I went up to £100 and now I pay £130. The only outcomes for me were positive. All interest stopped and all defaulted or marked as up to date. And I have a manageable budget with some savings now for emergencies and not panicking if I dont get overtime one month.
Good luck with new job.

Evening all,
Just after some advice. My dmp has been running for about 4 months and since then I've realised my budget isn't accurate. Since it was set up, my council tax, car insurance and a few others have increased and my tax credits have gone down slightly. I'm still getting by but I know that this can't be maintained long term. I'm so reluctant to change the dmp as all my creditors have been so accommodating, I don't want to rock the boat so early on. Has anyone had a similar experience in this at all?
Thanks in advance0 -

Thousands of people find they budget incorrectly.
Re doo your budget, inform stepchange, they will alter your payments for you, forget rocking the boat, you can either manage, or you can't.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Sourcrates is right. Don't panic about this. When starting on DMP journeys people find they have to suddenly plan a budget. People needing DMP have rarely managed a budget before this point - if they had they probably wouldn't be considering entering a DMP;)
Just tell SC you need to revisit the budget, and tell them the revised figures. It's your DMP not SCs. They are just the route through which you are paying your creditors.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
Aargh having a minor panic,
Family friend been taken ill and I've volunteered to drive their nephew to studentland in a hired van. My licence and insurance record is ok but do they do a credit check ? Don't really want to have to explain why I can't hire a van but didn't cross my mind when I offered.

Thank you, I'll try to find out who they've booked the van with and make discreet enquiries.
