I've heard back from the first predator that I sent a CCA request to. They have returned it to the original lender and will be in touch in 21 days. Officially I know they only get 12+2 days but does this get extended if they have to refer? In the meantime they want me to continue paying...um No! While the account is in dispute you will be receiving not one penny from me mr predator.

Have also heard back from one of DH's predators re the dmp. Not going to send them the CCA request just yet as having gone through paperwork recently it turns out he was paying PPI which neither of us realised so a mis-selling complaint is in motion - don't want to rock the boat until that is completed.

The 12+2 days thing, is only a guideline, it's not set in stone.

Until they respond with something, you can bask in the knowledge that your debt is unenforcable, albeit temporarily !!!

  • Have barclaycard blocked me? I tried to login to my account as cut the card up just to see the balance (was on its limit when I last checked on a cash point) but it won't let me login just keeps saying invalid login (it's correct) and I should phone them..... I would rather not knowing they have probably received my DMP letter by now

This was taken out pre-2004 so if they still have the original agreement I will be impressed...disappointed but impressed.

I feel sick to my stomach being at home. Like I am on egg shells all the time creeping in and out. I won't go home unless my OH is with me. I see her on the school run too and she tries to intimidate me then too.

Really feel for you. We had a nightmare neighbour for a few years. We were fortunate that we had the support of other neighbour's. They have left now, but even though I know they are not there some noises bring back the bad memories. You mentioned you currently rent from a private landlord, doe she have other properties? might be worth approaching them, see if they have anything available. You mention you are on the council list, do you have to place a bid of interest on properties? does it cover a large area, might be worth if possible looking slightly outside your normal area.Other option, not a quick fix unfortunately, is to check to see what Housing Associations are in your area, not all of them use the same list as the council so have their own application forms, and points system.

I hope you and your family find peace and quiet soon

Make-the-change,i know this is much MUCH easier said than done but why not stand up to this "person" (term used loosely!). I do not pretend to know the circumstances however, reading between the lines (she tries to intimidate you at the school, when children are present and you wont go home without OH) suggests to me that this person is just a bully, and bullies are insecure cowards when confronted. Also bear in mind that if she picks on you she has probably had issues with others in the area and if they see someone bite back you may be surprised at how many come out of the woodwork and back you up. Not saying start a riot here by any means, just let this fool know you wont take it anymore!!

Ok....where to start.Had a long conversation with Stepchange yesterday after looking at our finances have suggested a DMP.We owe around 22000 on 4 credit cards, overdraft and personal loan-this has come a head because I have been off work for 6 months due to being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing treatment.Have had all the SSP and now am going on ESA but both were/are less than 1/3 of what I was getting paid. My husband works full time and his salary covers most direct debits -mortgage etc but my money was what was paying the credit bills, they had been creeping up and this had been worrying me but then larger worries came along Have had a meeting with my work and it has been intimated that my job no longer exists, and the only jobs are physical , which I cannot due due to type of surgery and having a colostomy . I am signed off for another 2 months anyway as still getting over my treatment. The HR person is writing to docs to verify what ive told them is true, and I will have another meeting witbem before my sicknote runs out but reading between the lines I don't think I will have a job.We can't claim tax
credits as they overpaid us and are now taking the money back through our current award. My husband is reticent to go down the DMP route but I feel this is our only option as we can't release equity on the house as I'm too young.I am so worried about this I can't sleep even with tablets and just need reassurance that this is the right thing to do! We have 3 kids st home and one in Uni but he is pretty much supporting himself. Thanks in advance for reading.

    Hi Doshnumpty,
First off we hope your recovery goes well.
We started on our dmp with around £30,000 my OH was made redundant, she got another job, it ended so we had to do something, it turned out to be a DMP. It was the best move ever, SC are excellent, and the advice and support you get here is amazing. The crucial thing to remember is you can only pay what you can afford, at one point our DMP payments dropped by over half, not one of our creditors bothered us, they just kept taking the payments that SC made.

Thanks for the advice, and giving me a much needed laugh-the name describes me and my husband exactly! We are doshnumpties :-(

Welcome to the thread, as others have said, don't be fearful of the DMP, it'll probably change your lives for the better.

I Know this isn't nice but don't be shy or frightened to explain to creditors why this has happened, I got a much better response when I said the reason our joint income had dropped was because the partner at the time had been treated for cancer. The last think creditors want is bad publicity ' CC company hound cancer victim etc'.

Others have explained how to do your emergency fund payments, I'd try to keep the husbands name off the DMP if you can but it depends how your debts are split.

Try to have a good read through this thread (and the others before to get some ideas of what may or may not happen).

Your health is,pre important than your debts, but I fully empathise that the two are inextricably linked.

    Saz.

I feel sick to my stomach being at home. Like I am on egg shells all the time creeping in and out. I won't go home unless my OH is with me. I see her on the school run too and she tries to intimidate me then too.

Definitely the bully type, I wouldn't try to approach her but try not to let her see you are worried, in her mind that's like you're admitting she is in the right, and is giving her more power. So keep your chin up and smile on the inside - remember this is going to end sometime for you, she will always be her!

Our local area has a Facebook selling community page and people sometimes connect with local landlords on there by advertising as wanted. This could leave you open to her finding out what you are doing, so maybe get someone else to put the advert on for you?

Other places I've seen flats advertised are local shop windows so if you feel like a walk at Easter .....?

I would explain you your landlord what is going on, he or she might be interested enough to help you out in some way, you don't have to say at first that you are planning to leave, just ask in a roundabout way if anyone else had trouble with this bully.

Hopefully something will change soon for you to make this better.

    Saz.
