An Argos bed has ruined my life (well almost)

Closure at last.
Out of the blue, Argos have sent me a cheque in the mail today for the full cost of the replacement bedding along with an apology for the inconvenience. They even gave me an additional £1 over and above the cost of the bedding :money: The new replacement bed to be delivered soon. All is well that ends well (I hope!).0 -

Are they replacing it with the same type of bed (probably with the same screws)?0 -

I am glad to say that the answer to that one is no  !!!
My GF has opted for a different (chrome finish I think) bed. Hopefully we will have a little more luck with this one.........I can only live in hope.0 -

Hi Tim, The bed model was the 'Alderley Black Double Bedstead'. Argos assure me that nobody else has suffered from similar problems with the same bed, although I find it hard to believe that only my bed has suffered from this. Unless they are all individually, purpose built, hand made :j I'm guessing not though0 -

I know it's too late now, but a bit of advice for the future where metal beds are concerned at Argos:
we used to sell a good quality metal bed for £178 that Argos were selling until recently at £350. So when you find a bed in Argos that isn't in the sale, and costs £99.99, then the quality will be questionable.
As for them not receiving complaints from anyone else, it is possible that the manufacturers simply ran out of zinc plated bolts, so decided to use chemi blacked bolts instead just until stocks were replenished. The manufacturers probably didn't even realise that the coating could rub off.
PS... before you all start thinking that this Tim bloke is a right know it all, I ran an electroplating company for 16 years before I started selling beds.0
