An Argos bed has ruined my life (well almost)

I was hoping to read about something you did in the bed that ruined your life! Rusty screws?! As someone above says, must have had some liquids on it
As for the sheets try some stain devils stuff. There is one for rust or iron mould I think and this will help.

The £25 would have bought you plenty stain devil stuff.0 -
Hinges I had on a sofa bed rusted and I couldn't get the marks off the bedding, it is frustrating OP to have perfectly good bedding ruined like thisMoney SPENDING Expert0

You spend £80 on bed linen but buy your bed from Argos0
-
My sympathies - I hope you get your life back on track soon.0

Blimey - how to scare off a newbie in one easy step eh?!
Admittedly the title of the thread is a bit OTT, but the OP did say it was just a figure of speech and it was perhaps just a tongue in cheek remark that most other respondents on here haven't seen the comical side to and instead have ripped to shreds.
It may sound bizarre to re-purchase expensive bedding, but if Argos DO pay him for it, then he at least gets his money back on the new stuff, making it a worthwhile purchase IMHO.
Come on guys - the poster asked for advice and has been met with rudeness and sarcasm - why not nip over to the 'Arms' or 'DT' if you want to have some slanging matches and banter with folk?
Good luck with your quest Grinaldo - I sure would be annoyed too and would want more than £25 for my bedding in compensation - You would be lucky to get a decent quality full single bed set for that TBH.
Let us know how you get on!0 -
I got stuck in traffic this morning on the way to work
My life is also ruined.0 -
What chance do you think that I have of getting my money back, any advise gratefully received.
Thanks
David
*RANT OVER*You don't have the receipts for the original bedding, so they could have refused to pay out on that completely as you also haven't proved that bed damaged the bedding or that the damage wasn't your fault. For instance, I can't see how a mattress protector can be "ruined" by the fixings for the bed, so in their shoes I'd have wanted to see that damage for myself before offering a penny. I'll be very surprised if they now decided to pay the £80 for the new bedding, because (a) you didn't have their agreement to that before you bought it, & (b) you don't need to spend that amount on new bedding - they can flick through their own catalogue to see that.
They've offered you a new bed & £25 refund on bedding you can't prove you bought and can't prove was damaged by the bed. It's not nice to have your things damaged, but given that you can't prove the cause of the damage or the costs involved, I would take that offer & be grateful for it.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Okay okay, as previously stated......the title is a bit over the top granted
Maybe should read 'An Argos bed has mildly disrupted my sleeping patterns'
I will not let them collect the bed until I have the damaged bedding issue resolved, therefore I still have the evidence that the bed is faulty (the rusty screws) and the cause of the damage.
I have offered to send Argos photos - they don't want them
I have offered for them to come and inspect the bed and bedding in my house- they won't do it
I have offered to send in the damaged bedding to inspect - they don't want it.
They say that they will not refund more than 10% of he price of the bed.
I accept that I probably will not receive the full amount due to wear and tear on the 'old' bedding but I am not going to stand for being fobbed off with £25.
There customer service has been rubbish, nobody calls back, I'm passed around and it has only made me more determined to get as much back out of them as I can the longer it drags on.0 -
Their liability extends to the bed (it's quite reasonable for them to say that they don't want the bedding, as they might not have the facilities to store it or staff to examine it), & while you refuse to allow them to collect it, you put your warranty & their goodwill at risk. I say that because you might find yourself in a position where they say that they've offered to replace the bed, you refused to let them collect it, so they now aren't going to bother (or words to that effect).
They might have been prepared to increase the offer of £25 to something like £40 or even £50, but once they see your £80 receipt, they might think you had a cheek sending it in given their existing offer. In which case, they might take the view that they owe you for the bed at most & won't be prepared to meet you halfway on the bedding. You're still going to be out of pocket, & the more money & energy you expend pursuing this, the greater your chances that eventually resolving the situation costs you more than you gain in the end.
I understand you're annoyed, but sometimes you do have to cut your losses. While you're increasing your phone bill (& your stress levels) repeatedly telephoning them, you still don't have a decent bed & you're £80 down.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Unfortunately dragging this on 'will' ruin you life. Let it go and move on to something more worthwhile.0
