DH has just told me he received a cheque for his dental insurance claim so £200 will go into the OP pot when its paid in.:j
Maybe we might hit our target after all. Lets see as there is still a few weeks to go until payday1.7.15: £157,469.64, 10.02.16: £93,434.74

Which means our current balance stands at:
£140,567.04
I have used the money given for the mini diamonds for the OP. This means in January when I get my bonus i will pay the mini-diamonds back. But OP today saves us approximately £57 worth of interest between now and Jan 2016.
All going ok we should get to £130k's by end of August.
I can't believe our original balance was £187,500 when we bought our house in june 2010.
Balance when starting the diary: £157,469.64 July 2015
Balance on 11 August 2015: £140,567.04
Still a long way to go and we won't be making such large OP in future. Will update my signature to show all this1.7.15: £157,469.64, 10.02.16: £93,434.74

Hi Diamonds :hello:
Found your diary after you posted on mine. Interesting diary and I will be following. You have set a great target and I wish you luck.

June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Thanks Lucky. I just feel a bit gutted that we have wasted so much money prior to having the LB moment.
Hi Cath- Thank you i will check out both diary's.
There may be £150 unforeseen expenditure this week. My mum who looks after my mini-diamonds whilst we are at work isn't feeling very well so we may put them in nursery an extra day this week just so mum gets a break. My dad wouldn't cope with both kids on his own. There would be alot of tv watching and ice-cream eating if dad was solely in charge of the mini diamonds :rotfl:
As long as mum feels better I don't care so much about the extra spends. Just means less in OP but her health comes first. Although DH got his dental insurance payout of £212 so maybe we can use that for the extra childcare if needed xx1.7.15: £157,469.64, 10.02.16: £93,434.74

I finally heard back from my accountant and we can withdraw a bit more more money than I was hoping for which is fab. BUT I won't be using it to OP right away as I have booked initial meetings (free) with some IFAs to make sure we are doing the right thing OP and not using some of our OP payments for future e.g mini-diamonds education etc. Plus I am nervous about investing the £50k we were given for the mini-diamonds as its such a massive chunk of money I want some "professional advise".
So since the £5 k payment the other day we won't be OP massively each month until we have had our advice but I will be putting the money aside in a separate OP pot instead.
I will still be posting about OP fund and savings etc just won't actually make many OP until IFA meeting xx1.7.15: £157,469.64, 10.02.16: £93,434.74

I did something similar to you OP 2.3k to get to around the 65k mark then keep saving into a savings account antill i feel ready to overpay agine
For me its slightly different as i have to pay a fee on the amount i overpay not massive tho so not even worth worrying about
keep saving and keep hitting the over payment button when you feel ready 5k is a massive OP :]Mortgage--- [STRIKE]£67700 March 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£65221 April 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£64983 July 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£64780 sept 15[/STRIKE] Remortgage [STRIKE]£67295 oct 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£66599 Nov 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£65878.73 Dec 15[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £64834 1st Jan 16[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Feb 16 £64,511.89[/STRIKE][STRIKE] March 16 £64,056.40[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]April 16 £62550[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]May 16 £62,396.20[/STRIKE] Feb 17 £60.800

Hello lovely,
Blinkin' heck your progress is extraordinary well done youMaking that £5K OP was a great decision bearing in mind the interest you will save, and its not as if the mini-Diamonds need it just yet is it!
Ouch to the nursery fees, but like you say your mums health is more important. If you lived anywhere near me I would gladly have had them for you, I always have an abundance of children here it seems especially in the school holidays as I look after my nephews a lot as well as my own two!
Please don't beat yourself up about not having your LBM sooner. The main thing is you've had it now, and that's all that counts. We will kick these mortgages into touch in 5 years time lady I promise you that!
With all best wishes, ATB xxMFW

Hey folks, as mentioned previously my accountant has confirmred how much I can withdraw from my old business acount before it is closed and the figure is a massive £10k. :j I know the logical MFW thing to do is OP but I am going to get advise from some IFAs and as my appointments aren't until early Oct after coursework is done (going too slowly-major panic:(:(:() I want somewhere to put my cash short term that pays decent interest but I can remove the cash if IFA advises to do so.
DH and I have both subscribed to a 5 year cash ISA and S&S ISA each although haven't maxed our allowances.
Options are:- Regular saver accounts
