What are you studying? I love the idea of learning something new and possibly opening up new doors for the future but I honestly don't know how you do it all - work, study and children. I have 2 two-year olds and work part time and feel like I have barely any time left-over!

Ditto PrincessLou - working from home with my two small people around my ankles is enough for me, baby brain has never really left so I couldn't imagine actually having to learn anything! I remember when DS was around a week old, trying to BF him and express at the same time whilst typing a work email - I felt like I was either superwoman or vaguely insane! (sorry if TMI) :):)

Diamonds - it does sound like you are putting too much pressure on yourself honey. What is your key aim? If it is to pay off the mortgage, could you allow yourself to use some of your savings to make a nice bumper OP then rely on income for the rest of the OPs? Could you perhaps halve the childrens savings in the short term and use the money to OP?

Another reason we want to be MF is due to the horror stories of just how much the little monkeys cost when they reach a certain age - I can already hear the requests for games consoles, school trips etc! So if we are MF we will have the income to pay for these things (within reason). I would never ever tell anyone else what to do with regards tiddlers, us mummies have to do whatever feels right for us, just offering an opinion :):):) x

  • Hello everyone,
I am back from Europe and exhausted. It hasn't been a very MS week. Had to buy DS new duvet and cover. last weekend. Although I am lucky to have a corporate credit card for meals and travel I did have a starbucks breakfast at the airport and I felt guilty about charging it to the company so that was unwarranted indulgence. Spends this week:

Stocked up on some toiletries at the airport
Travel adapters as i couldn't find the ones at home (need to be more organised)

I still need to add up how much I spend in duty free for gifts...

All in all a successful trip

  • it feels like I have been away for ages. Some unexpected costs:

    Airport parking -£75
10 Euro for carseat in holiday transfer van
    $80 for visas

It looks like we may not meet our OP target this month
There are other costs for bits for the mini diamonds but I will use my spends for those. I really do need to get more organised

Also didn't make lunch so bought it this morning as youngest diamond didn't sleep alot last night...never seen him so upset. I think its teething but he did fall over so not sure if hen has hurt his mouth.

  • Feeling more refreshed this morning.
We received £60 worth of amazon vouchers in the post yesterday for changing home insurance providers. Came in handy as i needed to order some bits for our holiday for the mini diamonds, very pleased with that.

  • Afternoon all,

NSD yesterday and hopefully today too. Checked CC balance and i am in credit £30.40 so hopefully can use this for the food shop this weekend.
I have a dilemma, not a bad one and i know lot of people would love to be in position.
We have been given £50k for deposit on a BTL but i would rather invest it in S&S and Fine wines etc Although i nothing about investing in wine or S&S where as DH thinks we should do the BTL
its feasible to take out a BTL but we would have to wait until we remortgage our home to fixed 5 year deal. It would mean we would not be mortgage free after paying off our mortgage on our home.

what would people do? using the cash to pay off our existing home is not an option as it was given to us for investing for the future for our mini diamonds etc

Sorry for posting here but as always I am genuinely interested in your thoughts

    Thanks Diamonds xx

  • Morning all,

I am getting impatient with the accountant about closing the company and dispersing funds. I think he must be on holiday as he does usually reply quickly. I just want to use whatever money we get after paying taxes and expenses for OP.
DD has another birthday party to go to this weekend. She was already going to one on Sunday and now she has one on Saturday. Will use my Amazon vouchers for buying a gift so no spend there.
I am thinking of ways to boost my income. I love the idea of tutoring but just not sure if I have the time. Maybe next year between MSc modules.

  • Did a tilly tidy of accounts yesterday and OP £7.06. It is a tiny amount I as I won't make another big OP until month end I wanted to keep the momentum going. Just having a glass of champagne at work as its our intern's 21st tomorrow.
Had to buy lunch today as didn't get time to make anything but I used the £30 credit on my credit card.

    Goals for 2015:
    Get into the £130k's
Save £2000 for MSc course- already have £500/2000 so £1500 needed
Save £1000 for change radiators in kids room and new flat room felt for extension

  • So update from weekend:
    1. Went over budget on food shop by £30 as we did a As4da shop as well as Ald1. Also did a kids snack shop for the holiday although this will come out of holiday spends.
    2. Not sure what our OP will be at month end.
    3. Bought lunch from Tesco again this morning. but used my remaining credit on my credit card so won't touch monthly budget.
    4. I love taking leftover dinner for my lunch the next day so must ensure there is enough dinner made.

    Tasks for today:
    • Email accountant regarding closing business account and tax return
    • Email solicitor regarding my accident last year
    • check credit card balance
    • call halifax regarding online access to credit card
