It's a bit of exclusive jargon that old forum hands use to make themselves feel superior over the occasional visitor.

:rotfl: Hardly! Why would anyone do that? I didn't know about it until I started using this forum, but it's a quick way to write something. It's no different to a lot of the short hand used on here IMO!

I don't really like DH or OH, I prefer MH (short for my husband, saves me typing it out longhand every time). But I don't think anyone else would realise MH meant my husband :).

Tbh, I don't really like it either....particularly on those occasions when the husband is being a PITA and is not exactly dear! :p

Oooo look at me being all superior by using all those acronyms! :rotfl:

I can cope with DH, and I'm beginning to learn what DD3 means (dear daughter, the third in the family).

I scratched my head over LO for ages before I worked out it meant 'little one'.

But what I struggle with are all the ways people write the names of supermarkets - Mr T, Sainsbugs' @sda, Herr A and so on, rather than Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Aldi.

I understand it's to stop the names appearing in search results, but it makes the posts so difficult to read.

DH can also be Dental Hygienist, I do wonder why so many people talk about their hygienist and seem to share so much by them

My wife would say it stands for D!ckhead. :D

I don't think ANYONE uses it to feel morally superior 'OnlyRos.' It's more of an old habit. Me and the good lady have been frequenting forums on and off for about 10-11 years and DH has been used all that time. So has DW, DD, DS, GDS, GDD, etc. It's not that hard to type the actual words, but people do it out of habit I think. :)

    It's cringey.

Especially when the thread is about some form of deceit.

I am not fond of it buzzy. I prefer OH.

I dislike that too, it sounds childish to me. I can't make my mind up whether anyone actually says something like 'I'm off to Sainsbobs in RL' (to use another;)).

I don't hold with the search results argument. If I post that all the big supermarkets (like Asda Tesco and Sainsbury's) have been greedy so they deserve to be taught a lesson by customers voting with their feet and going to Aldi and Lidl, I want them to read it and find out what shoppers like me think of them.
