    OK Next Question
Do I need to inform my insurers that I am now a Blue Badge holder ?
I understand that if I have any affliction that affects my driving - I must
But Since my problem is with my left leg and my car is an automatic - plus I have had this problem (on-going) for at least 10 years - And have never had an accident in 35 years of driving - do they need to be informed ?
If I do tell them - they will no doubt use it as an excuse to bump up my premium
Do DVLA get info from my local authority ?

No, unless your disability is an impediment to your driving you do not have to notify DVLA or your insurance company

Yes, you can use it as a passenger in another car, as long as the driver does not get out and do your shopping and leave you in the car, that's a big no no.

Incorrect, so long as I am In The car displaying my blue badge and parked legally it is nobody's business why I am parked there or what the driver is doing, them's the rules I'm afraid despite how you may choose to interpret them

So you are saying that I can I sit in my car, parked on double yellows - when my wife is out in a shop ?
As long as I display my BB
    Sounds sus to me ....

You must tell DVLA if you have a driving licence and:

you develop a ‘notifiable’ medical condition or disability
a condition or disability has got worse since you got your licence

Notifiable conditions are anything that could affect your ability to drive safely. They can include:

    epilepsy
    strokes
other neurological and mental health conditions
    physical disabilities
    visual impairments
Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.

    According to this website:

    http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/blue-badge-scheme-a-guide-for-badge-holders

badge holders should not use the badge to allow non-disabled people to take advantage of the benefits while the badge holder sits in the car. Although it is not illegal for a badge holder, or a non-disabled person waiting for the badge holder to return, to remain in the vehicle while the blue badge is displayed, consideration should be given to using a car park wherever possible

As it says its not illegal but if the disabled person is not getting out the car why would you park in a disabled spot?

I never have done this and never will. As I only need a disabled parking space because of the extra space to open the doors for my husband.

    Yours

    Calley

    - a conveniently dishonest interpretation of the 'blue badge rules'
    - I've long wished for this and other 'stretching' of the spirit of what was intended' to have their badge rescinded
    - sitting in the vehicle to save your partners legs / time is in your partners interest - they are her legs and her time - not yours

In 2010 I told the DVLA about my health condition.. it wasn't on the list of problem conditions but I wante dto cover myself. They sent me a letter stating they were aware but no further acion was needed and I could keep driving... I was reassured that I could then use this letter to show my insurance company if a problem arose.

I'll be interested to see how the new Mersey Gateway (Runcorn-Widnes) bridge deals with BB holders.. There wont be toll booths but BB holders will be able to use the bridge for free.

I've asked them numberous times, but they refuse to answer.

You register in advance with them. Registrations will be invited later as its still two more years before it even opens. Registration will be similar to the one used currently for the Mersey Tunnel tolls.
