market rents budget

I live where I can afford to live. If I couldn't afford it I'd have to move.
TBH I think the government should make people give up social housing when they reach a certain income level, though they can;t do this as people would make sure they never hit that ceiling.0 -
OP where are my 40% friend.

How much is the rent on a council property compared to "market rates"? E.g. what would a council tenant in a 2-bed London council flat be paying?
It depends on the Local Authority, and I suspect it varies within Authorities depending on location, condition, facilities and any number of other factors I can't think of.
I'm a LA tenant in one of the most deprived areas of North London and have been for about 35 years. My rent is £130 a week, I've just had a snoop on RightMove and have found the lowest asking-rent in my post-code is £265
Luckily, or unluckily depending on how you choose to look at it, I earn a great deal less that £30k per annum.
n.b. LA rents are not subsidised by anyone. That they're lower than local market-rents should come as no surprise to anyone as there's no mortgage on them and no landlord needing to live off the profit in rents collected. My own LA has received many-times more in rent from me than the property would have cost to build back in the 70s0 -

Adrian,
Many thanks for that.
It is obvious that he now realises just how lucky he has been in however long he has lived there.
As it looks likely that he may be a pensioner soon then he probably now has the tenancy for life.
Out of interest can you show steps to find out last posting by an individual.
Thanks again0 -
