I should add, I know there is a risk the rate could get better. Predictions seem to be between about $1 to $1.20 to the £ come next summer. In the worst case scenario it went down to $1, everything would be about 25% more expensive, so doing nothing has a fairly hefty risk as well.

I have a budget in mind for the holiday and think I could keep to that with the exchange rates as they currently are. I know they are bad compared to a few weeks back, but they could also get a lot worse.

So with that in mind, it may be safer to tie in now? Or maybe tie in half the money to hedge my bets?

More my question is (rather than wondering if the rate might change) is if the money is secure there? i.e. is it more open to fraud/being stolen than leaving it in a savers account?

Or could Revolut charge me for keeping it there unused for a long time etc

it's official, they are now accepting top-ups only from EEA users.
users outside EEA can spend their current balance and.. that's it.

I topped my card via bank transfer (in Euros) using my Chilean bank account. Took around 3 days to get the money loaded, but it worked.

I really want a chance to invest in Revolut but have no contacts who use the app. The people with the most contacts get the chance to invest so I'm wondering if any users want to swop numbers to get contact numbers up? Would do this on DM, let me know if anyone is interested. We don't need any other details other than a name and phone number.
    Thanks

I'm looking for a travel card that will do me for small travel to europe (odd long weekend maybe 2-3 times per year) where I will need atm money just enough for the weekend for cash purchases at markets etc (so I should stay under the £500 per month) and put what I can on the card as a "credit card"- it would seem then that this is better than the hassle of applying for one of the recommended credit cards that are on the site?
If you come back with surplus money from a trip that you have preloaded, can you get the money back easy (or do you just go to any uk atm and withdraw whats left?)
    Or am I missing something?

...or withdraw by sending it to your own bank account, without fee.

I see that Revolut now accept top-up by credit card, for a 1% fee:

I don't know how it will be classed by the CC company, a purchase or cash advance...

Used this for a trip to Italy recently. Only had 1 rejected transaction but otherwise worked flawlessly.

The in app support was quite helpful in answering questions.

The rates I found are slightly better than the Halifax clarity card but only by €0.01.

Tip: always try the card in the UK to ensure the pin can card works.

Always carry spares in case one fails, in my case i got both the Halifax Clarity and Travelex Supercard as backup and to be used in that order.

Interesting you can transfer money via PayPal using this card and it's not counted as a cash withdrawal and won't eat into your £500 per calendar month allowance.

New fees are being introduced on all cross currency transactions above a certain value each month:

"Cross-currency transactions (Send, Spend, Transfer, Exchange) are free up to £5,000 / €6,000 / $6,000 (or equivalent) per month. A 0.5% fee will apply to further cross-currency transactions performed during the same calendar month.

For example, if you have £6,000 on your account, and you exchange £5,000 into euros, this is!FREE. Then, if you decide to exchange the remaining £1,000, there will be a £5 charge. This policy only applies to cross-currency transactions; so if you transfer £6,000 to a GBP account, it will still be!FREE.

This will apply to new users from 9th September 2016 and existing users from 9th November 2016."
