because it's upto the police to decide if they want to take any speeding violation to court regardless of how many points you may already have on your licence
call the dvla and ask them for yourself0 -
There must have been some other factors then, with 35 in a 30 being the official charge.PLease excuse me if I don't believe the opinions of a grass cutter.
Speedtrap bible has a table of results for various speeding offences.Happy chappy0 -

From that link in Hapless postFor every offence which carries penalty points the court has a discretionary power to order the licence holder to be disqualified. This may be for any period the court thinks fit, but will usually be between a week and a few months.0

The period for a disqualification solely for exceeding a speed limit that would be awarded would typically be 28 days.0

no there was not, what do you not understand about it?
the police can decide to take you to court no matter how many points you have no matter how little over the speed limit you were doing, like I said, if you do not believe me, call the dvla for youself and hear it from the horses mouth0 -
Getting caught doing 35 in a 30 zone is a harsh way to gain 3 points. The £60 fine can be lived with, but the points are a worry, especially if you rely on your licence for a living. I've heard of people getting FPs for stupid stuff like 32 in a 30 (the APCO guidelines are ONLY guidelines and if the policeman behind the camera didn't get lucky last night he CAN prosecute for that). This is just frightening. 32 in a 30 is not speeding. It's a genuine mistake, not a willful criminal action.
I live with the constant threat of these cameras, increasing in number by the week. I do 80-100,000 miles per year in my van, increasing my likelihood of a '32 in a 30' prosecution by a factor of 8 from that of a civvy street driver. I have no points at the moment, but that doesn't make me feel safe. Every time I pass a camera (at least 20 a day) I get a shiver, even though I'm on the limit. Four mistakes and I'm on the dole.
Something has to change here.
Why don't we have a speed camera referendum? It's our country, we should choose whether we want them.Do whatever it takes.

Why did they bother going to court though? There's nothing I don't understand about the possibilities available, but I wonder why they bothered.Happy chappy0
