Does the school have a lost property bin that they'd let you hunt in?
  • Hi,

make up a foot cast, tell school he's hurt his foot, and wear good shoe only.

This happened to me. I just bought a pair of cheaper shoes than I would normally buy to last him until the end of term.

As frustrating as it is, the school have a dress code and it requires following.

I would have thought, at 15, the growth of his feet had pretty much slowed down to a standstill. Wouldn't shoes still fit him in September if you bought them now?

Personally I'd try gluing them and see how long they last. As long as he can wear them on Monday you're fine. Once they broke again I'd ring the school and explain you won't be free till the weekend due to work/ sons special shoe needs to buy another pair.

If you really want to avoid buying next year's shoes now, I would try gluing them but send him to school wearing trainers with the school shoes in his bag. He can change into them when he arrives and leave the trainers in his locker. If the shoe falls apart during the school day, he can show a teacher and ask if he can change into his PE trainers. I doubt they'd say no! Then re-glue and repeat the next day :) It's only a week.

Same just happened to me. In the end we bought shoes ready for September but she is wearing them now. There seems to be plenty of growing room so I think they should be fine. Get him measured and ensure there is room and you should be OK. Its one more expenditure out the way and you beat all the queues for shoes at the end of the holidays!

Lads seem to grow like weeds in the summer. I say that as a parent and as a teacher, so I wouldn't risk buying unless you buy a larger size.

I think you have to speak to the school or write, formally, outlining the impossibility of buying uniform shoes for a week.

A large amount of the population have 'flat feet', it isn't usually a major issue. What about cheap black plimsols from Primark? They're about £3 and I'm sure his feet will cope for a week. They're quite roomy so you could rip out the insoles from his other shoes if they are actually correcting his feet issues.
