Even that is speculation
Actually that isn't speculation as its evidenced by your own posts
It may be a theory (which could be right or wrong) but its not speculation if there is evidence backing it up
Can you tell I'm bored? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
You must be extremely bored to start using speculative evidence0

In this case the OP hasn't been that hard done by, had they shipped the power supply it would have cost them at least £20 and then they would have had a two month wait to see what came back.
Seeing as everyone's speculating, going by the OP first post it seems that XFX do handle RMA's in house but the OP didn't want to go to the expense of shipping to their service centre so they had a go at ebuyer. Ebuyer agreed to the RMA giving the OP the usual BS treatment (yes we'll forward to the service centre or replace it) but instead they got hit with the unexpected proportionate refund bombshell, using the SOGA as an excuse.
Warranties are a major issue with Ebuyer - Technically in most cases you only have a six month warranty with Ebuyer - a six month window where they'll do as they're supposed to, repair, replace or refund in full. After that, especially if they're the manufacture appointed RMA handler you'll receive a reduced refund regardless of what the warranty T&C's state. The OP would have been in this position had they returned at six months old and not thirty six.0 -
They would not be fully justified to ask the OP to prove the fault was inherent at all. The OP was claiming under the warranty noT SOGA.
Unholyangel has explained my reasoning pretty well.
One point I will raise, though, is your posts before mine:zandoni wrote:Ebuyer are doing this all the time now, this is one of the reasons I have stopped buying from them.
followed by someone else:!!!!!! wrote:So you stop buying from the firm because they are using THEIR rights under SOGA instead of doing what you want?
then yours:zandoni wrote:Yep, when there are other companies out there that give better customer service than SOGA, why not give them your custom.
It is slightly indirect, but these three posts basically say that you do not buy from Ebuyer because they are doing this all of the time now; specifically they are not going above and beyond SOGA in this situation.
Seems a bit in-congruent to then go on and claim that OP was dealing with a warranty claim and not SOGA! According to your logic (on later posts) this 50% must therefore represent a warranty resolution (or, as I have said, a somewhat generous SOGA resolution - please read my previous post for an explanation of that point). This leaves us in a situation whereby you simply CANNOT hold the belief that, and to quote you, "there are other companies out there that give better customer service than SOGA" because ebuyer must in fact be one of them!!!!! Either you're wrong about ebuyer, or you're wrong on this thread (or both).
Unless, of course, you DO believe that OP was dealing with SOGA in which case your post is pointless.0 -

You're not making a lot of sense, my views have not changed.0 -

In a nutshell, you said that you don't buy from ebuyer because they will not go above and beyond their rights under SOGA but then you try and argue with me that they (OP) are in fact dealing with a warranty return - something which is considered going above and beyond SOGA.0 -

I've stopped buying from buyer because they don't honour their one year guarantee, they give proportional refunds if faulty goods are over 6 months old.0
