DD called me last night very worried. Fiance has had a problem with his ear for some months as it is slightly painful and weeps. He went to dr finally a few weeks ago and went to ent specialist yesterday. He has been told his ear is collapsing inside and he has to go for a brain scan. I looked it up and it seems to be Cholesteatoma which is where the skin in the ear overgrows and causes the middle ear to collapse. It seems to be a surgical approach is needed and the brain scan is to check it has not gone in further.
Very worrying time especially as weddin is only 3 weeks today.
Has anyone any experience of this?
I knew a young lady who had this (14 yrs old). Unfortunately it can be very serious if left untreated as it can indeed spread to the brain. She had to have quite a lot of her inner and middle ear surgically removed and then monitored for a year after. It is important not to get fluid in the ear. I'm glad to say she was all fine and dandy afterwards but obviously lost most of her hearing in that ear.
I hope your future SIL is ok and it hasn't spread, good luck.RISEABOVEHATE

edit: morning all :hello:
I'm no expert, but this looks like a good deal to me...

£18.50 in Sains
£49.99 in Asda - You would get a massive APG but potentially £17 with cheap fillers
I would just buy it in Sains.
I'm thinking of trying an electric brush, but not sure if they are better/worth it.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -

Does anyone use one of these or similar?

Got it originally from a bzz campaign several years ago and whilst it took abit of getting used to having never used an electric toothbrush before...I now really like it and all the family use it.
It really does give a good clean.
Replacement heads can be a little expensive although there is usually at least one retailer at a time that has them on special offer so a pack of 4 is about £12...I think usually they are £18-20
The brush comes with a 2 year guarantee and thats been wonderful for us as we have now had 3 brushes where the on off button has stuck within 18 months of the new one being sent...each time we have had a new brush sent when we return the old one and the service has been really good.
Personally I'm not sure I would pay the rrp for the brush(ours should be around £100) but if on offer at half price or similar it would be a good choice for us.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
