first job this morning is having a fridge tidy up just incase eldest son swings back this weekend - he has been on PDT this week somewhere I cant pronounce north of Portsmouth
also visitor later in the month and the builder.
OH has the annoying habit of not finishing off packs of butter  so I've got several ends of butter packs - think I might freeze these for now and I've got a hankering to make a seed cake
so I googled it and Nigel Slater said don't over do the caraway - another recipe said it would need an entire jar  and he said it would need a teaspoon so I might just see how it goes. This one says it needs 2 tsp
http://frugalfeeding.com/2012/04/19/classic-caraway-seed-cake/
(I have no idea how the author costed this cake out to be £1.10 even in 2010)
it also needs ground almonds seemingly. I am wondering if I could get the flaked ones from Aldi and then just give them a wiz in the mini blender - what do you think?
just need to get eggs, caraway and the almonds“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
DD called me last night very worried. Fiance has had a problem with his ear for some months as it is slightly painful and weeps. He went to dr finally a few weeks ago and went to ent specialist yesterday. He has been told his ear is collapsing inside and he has to go for a brain scan. I looked it up and it seems to be Cholesteatoma which is where the skin in the ear overgrows and causes the middle ear to collapse. It seems to be a surgical approach is needed and the brain scan is to check it has not gone in further.
Very worrying time especially as weddin is only 3 weeks today.
Has anyone any experience of this?0 -

oh gosh what a worry for you all rose :A:A good that he is getting it sorted now xxx But the worst thing you can do sometimes is read about it on the internet as it's always the worst case scenarios that are shown. Let us know how he gets on :grouphug:
Ladyshooper great to see you posting - I have been awol so not sure what has gone on but it sounds like you have had an awful time - hugss to you hoping you are back home soon :AYNWA JFT96 :A0 -
There was a very cheap bathroom sink on Hukd and I actually found a stockists but about 30 miles away - I don't really want to order it to only find it is actually out of stock when I finally managed to struggle in that direction.
and then I looked at the cost of loos - HOW MUCH
we have finally got our tame builder in to do the upstairs bathroom :T but he has chosen to come over the weekend that our eldest is coming to visit
in the meantime I've got to make decisions about a shower unit at the very least, floor tiles and wall tiles. I've also still got the original pale pink loo and sink so ideally I want them changed and changed while the builder is here (and not by OH who thinks he is good at DIY but isn't)
I have no idea where to start even looking - our upstairs bathroom is over 20 years old and I have no idea how we even afforded it then.
Yes I've had at least 6 months to think about this and make a decision but I keep putting it off - I know this is going to be the most expensive project so far.
any help or suggestions pretty please - do I just grit my teeth and order everything off somewhere like Victoria plumb?
After looking around lots that's what we did got the toilet basin and bath from Victoria plumb. In fact was very impressed with their customer service. Bath had a flaw and was replaced within 48 hours no quibble. So if you do check thoroughly. We had missed flaw until bath was out in brighter light plumber noticed it when about to fit!
We got taps elsewhere though because we have low pressure and was not sure the ones from VP would be ok. Tiles from that well known shop name escapes me sorry.
Our builders were very good and supplied all the waste connections that were not included and the bath chrome push down plug as it had not come up as a needed extra on VP like it did for the basin so double check things like that. They also knew where to source the exact shower screen we wanted.
Guess I am trying to say Victoria plumb good for basics, will say not highest quality bit I didn't think what I saw in some independent showrooms warranted easy double the cost. HTHs0 -

Just won a voucher! Thank you!
I have found that if after your first two swipes you then click on one of the food pictures it takes you to the recipe, then if you backclick it takes you back to the comp and gives you a further THREE goes! I did this a couple of times before winning. Good luck everyone. And thank you for all the glitches. Have just started doing this and have chicken, conditioner and yog. I too have had enormous difficulty with the crisp vouchers. Both A and T insisted the only eligible things were the things pictured and A even stated it was only valid in T as it mentioned T on the back. Customer care pah! I ended up in Morrys actually buying the meal deal and a sushi which all in all cost me 50p so quite happy. I cannot often post but am on a rare day off from work. However, thanks to all and happy shopping.Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
is is worth thinking about getting a prescription prepayment certificate - I think you would be able to claim this £27 back - you can pay monthly by direct debit - we do and its about £10 a month.
I am thinking that if the 1st lot of anit biotics don't work they may give you a different lot.
http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcosts/Pages/PPC.aspx
1.A three month PPC costs £29.10 and could save you money if you need more than three prescribed items in three months
2.A 12 month PPC costs £104.00 and could save you money if you need more than 12 prescribed items in a year
How much can I save?
•If you need two items each month you can save over £90 with a 12 month PPC
•If you need three items each month you can save over £190 with a 12 month PPC
•If you need four items each month you can save over £285 with a 12 month PPC
There are several payment options available. If you choose the 12 month PPC, you can pay for this by 10 monthly direct debit instalments.
Wish I had thought about this 2 scripts Tuesday and one yesterday. I didn't get receipts though.
Was trying to tell izzy last night that yesterday was first anti bs. Double dose yesterday to start them off. My head feels more like its usual self today.....trouble is I sound more like a man. :rotfl:
