I know this has happened before to people but never to me! Got a Panic on :rotfl:
Thanks
sorry not much help but
This happened to me a little while ago - they took the full amount and then the actual amount also the next day - although it was around £30 + £15 not £95 I did email to ask for it to be refunded and we ended up going back and forth a few times but they refused to refund me.
I decided in the end to let it go as to not draw attention to me (even though I do only have one account but I did have £40 worth of evouchers in my account which I didn't fancy loosing)0 -
Yep great idea it actually added to the benefit bill as it costs more to send people to the work benefit program than just pay their JSA in the first place.
work program isn't to get people into work. Hope across to DT and you will see company's that sack there payed staff to take people who are on the work program.
Hence why I never suggested that they do the jobs that people are already employed to do, but do the sorts of things that make life easier for those who are working. Clearing snow, doing small jobs for the old/infirm etc. Okay, it might cost more than JSA, but it might help more people get a work ethic, and we could save the money by dropping the amount of JSA people get
It costs more to treat people that are ill than just putting them down, should we also do that to save money?“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Right all caught up now, off to the salt mine again.
I think as the conversation has drifted again we need either a massive glitch to get us back on track
Or as this is Monday and its not likely to happen until the Tuesday/Wednesday change over we need pages of photos of dogs, cats, holiday places and peculiar looking plants or birds that need identifying :rotfl:
Hopefully that has worked.0 -

Both myself & DH have been lucky enough to have been employed all our working lives. I do feel sorry for those that have to rely on benefits (the genuine folk) because it can't be easy. I do, however, agree with you on helping them get back into the working environment. I believe the long term unemployed must get to a point where it becomes difficult to contemplate the prospect of working or fitting into a work place. Helping them 'return to work' may give them the confidence that they probably lack due to the length of time they are unemployed. Helping out the elderly with tasks that they can't manage or helping maintain public areas would be a good thing I think. As for people that just don't want to work, you have to feel sorry for them because they must lack ambition. I cannot believe there are people out there that don't want to better themselves. Can benefits seriously pay for foreign holidays? I have lead a very sheltered lifeI would still rather my life than theirs. I could not go through life struggling to keep my head above water. I brought my sons up to believe that if they want the good things in life then they have to work for them, the same as my parents did with me.
