Oh don't! Have quite a way to go, both are only 9! It's the costs of the prom that scares me! A lady at work has just paid £550 for her DD dress, no way!
Woah, £550 on a prom dress
My DD had her prom the other week, she goes to an all girls grammar school with quite a few affluent families in attendance and as a student with a disabled husband I was worried about affording it so I did a booty with some of my stash and gave her a budget of £100 for the whole outfit. She came in under budget and this is the fabulous dress she got,

I even used my student discount. Proms on a budget can be done even if you have 2 DDs to kit out.
A lot of the dresses the girls wore were similar in style. She teamed up with 3 friends and got the parent with the nicest car to take them Definately not me)!
So don't worry to much if you can't afford the price of a second hand car for 1 party!
Oh and she got some French manicure nails from primary for £1, they looked fab, really professional, she did get her hair curled and plaited at a hairdressers though as I'm not great with her hair as its soooo long.

I had prom a week last Friday. And yes I paid through the nose for it :o you can't not however savvy you are.
Yes it's ridiculous! but it's how things are and you won't see your kid doing without. We got so angsty at one point I threatetend to throw the dress in the bin :o

Her demands were outrageous! be prepared to pay for tans, nails, temporary tattoos  it's good for a moan though :D:D see you in 8 years :rotfl:

Yes I remember when DD had her prom how much it cost me. And wedding in 7 weeks and dress was not cheap. But she is making economies where she can ( 2nd satin shoes from Depop and drop earrings from Ebay). Having a tasting of the wedding food at my sisters and men going for suit fittings today.
FC you are a wonderful mother and do everything you can for your children. I salute you
