WishI'dReadSooner wrote: »Thanks for that FC - now I see exactly where you are coming from with your comments. I think we've all met people who are moaning about how little they get and who have the latest phones, the most expensive Sky TV at full price, the biggest TV imaginable, kids with iphones stuck to their ears etc. etc.
I've also seen the aforementioned people in supermarkets and especially Iceland buying copious amounts of pizza, burgers, chips, ice cream and everything bad for you instead of meat and frozen veggies, fruit etc.
Yes, people do need educating. They could possibly get this from their large TV except that the programs they show on there for cutting down people's spends are pretty useless as I know nearly everyone on here could come up with much better examples on how to live frugally.
"Stuff I would only buy to line my own pockets" - I just don't agree with this bit. I think people are just being Savvy and it enables those that may not be able to afford to give out of their limited budget to give something. Surely that's FAR better than giving nothing, especially when the dreaded T's add 30% of given stuffs value on top? After all there isn't an education box! Maybe there should be?
you can't agree with all of the people all of the time.
It's just something that I personally find wrong for my ethics. I don't mind agreeing to disagree. I never attacked anyone personally over it. I'm just explaining and expressing my feelings on the people who felt the need to personally attack me for it.
I don't even mind that. I do, however, mind attacks on my kidsI draw the line there. As most would do. if only the people spouting were in possession of all the facts.......
But hey ho. that's just life0 -

I had prom a week last Friday. And yes I paid through the nose for ityou can't not however savvy you are.
Yes it's ridiculous! but it's how things are and you won't see your kid doing without. We got so angsty at one point I threatetend to throw the dress in the bin
Her demands were outrageous! be prepared to pay for tans, nails, temporary tattoos  it's good for a moan though:D see you in 8 years :rotfl:

For whoever asked about buying cruises from US & how we paid. We used Priceline and paid with a UK credit card. As hubby is an American & has an American passport + we used stepdaughters address, we had no problem. I think they have little problem selling to UK customers.
We did ask that the $480 voucher be extended and was told that as long as we used the voucher on a cruise before Dec 31st we could take the cruise in 2016. It would be much easier for us if they'd extend the voucher but unfortunately they weren't willing to do that.
I've seen some cracking deals on cruises this Oct/Nov that we'd love to take but we can't book anything at the moment as hubby's knee replacement op is scheduled for this time period. When they are going to do his back is anyone's guess? He's doing all the exercises and his last knee op, where they took away 60% of his cartilage he went in at 7am & was home at 3pm. People in ward who'd had same op were still in there 4 & 5 days later - they didn't do the exercises suggested! Even the surgeon was mightily impressed with him.0 -
WIHRS, dont they also have a thing in the US where if you book, and the price is then reduced, you get a refund/on board credit too. Swines, so much better.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Yes, I think they do. They also can book, I think, with no deposit, so book a few cruises, see which ones go down in price the best, choose the best cabins and get rid of the cruises they don't want before they have to pay.
We booked at final payment time so didn't get these perks.
Maybe I should look at this a bit more but I don't think the voucher is transferable once it's added to a cruise? My feet are just itching to go at the moment :eek::o0 -
