My DD had her prom the other week, she goes to an all girls grammar school with quite a few affluent families in attendance and as a student with a disabled husband I was worried about affording it so I did a booty with some of my stash and gave her a budget of £100 for the whole outfit. She came in under budget and this is the fabulous dress she got,

I even used my student discount. Proms on a budget can be done even if you have 2 DDs to kit out.
A lot of the dresses the girls wore were similar in style. She teamed up with 3 friends and got the parent with the nicest car to take them Definately not me)!
So don't worry to much if you can't afford the price of a second hand car for 1 party!
Oh and she got some French manicure nails from primary for £1, they looked fab, really professional, she did get her hair curled and plaited at a hairdressers though as I'm not great with her hair as its soooo long.
Good for you:T:T
How the children whose parents can't afford the posh frocks etcmust feel....I have no idea. Peer pressure, hormones, boyfriends...or lack of....not a good combination. And if parents lack our skills, they too must feel overwhelmed by all this prom nonsense.
Such an unfair first step for most children from school to the real world:o:(To do is to be. Rousseau

Joel is very sensible with a wicked streak
His mum and dad are also nice and if I am not mistaken the only parents to appear on Bit On The Side.

I was VERY lucky with my DDs prom, I made the dress, and her best friend's dress. There is no way I could have afforded to buy one similar. She looked absolutely fabulous in it
As for her best friend's dress, her parents were so impressed they thought I should set up in business, but that would take the joy out of making something so beautiful. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Think someone was looking for Bio Oil the other day? I've just seen this on the APG facebook group, thanks to Caz Aunty.
Bio Oil is reduced from £19.99 to £9.99 at the Co op Pharmacy at the moment, but there are some coupons for £2 off a £10 spend if you can find them so if you buy a 35p lolly or a little box of paracetamol you can get the Bio oil for £8.0 -

Proof!
:rotfl:
You know how much we all like towering pyramids of boxes.
When did we turn into HUKD.
I was going to post a generic photo as I have farmed out a number of my boxes (end of term party in school) but stumbled across Walkers Q&A
.
I admit I didn't know this ... Walkers is owned by PepsiCo.
https://www.walkers.co.uk/faq/about-walkers-business
And here was me thinking they were a solid UK company ... do we own nothing anymore?

Glad to be able to 'give' something back to the Elite, you guys have done really well for me over the past few years.
The Walkers promo was good fun, and I am glad you enjoyed it, I certainly had my fair share of vouchers. Called in my JF 5.30pm yesterday, they still had at least 14 boxes.
Now stop all these accolades, you are making me blush!! xx:o:o:oessex girl in exile0 -
My DD1 struggled through school. In fact most of the time she hated it. When it came to prom she decided not to go and asked if she could have £100 to spend on everyday clothes instead.
Don't get me wrong she is very sociable and had lots of friends at school but decided she would rather go out with them on other occasions and have clothes she could wear more than once. She still went with her friends for the spray tan though! I think she just couldn't bear anything associated with school any more. College suited her so much better0
