That's funny because our girls love beetroot and will eat cooked carrots but they must be cooked.

Same here when we cook rice and pasta and cooking an extra portion to give them.

We grow load and loads of lettuces which we eat but they are mainly for the ducks and hens. We have been known to go through 2 lettuces every day when the weather is warm. Just put in the cucumbers today and again most of them are for the hens and ducks. Between them they can get through a whole cucumber in one day.

Tomorrow they are having the leftovers from our homemade Thai supper with 9 different veg in it and noodles. Just couldn't eat it all as it was too hot today but I know they will love it.

Our poorly hen has been a sleep since lunchtime. She is leaning against her little box with very slow breathing bless her and looks so peaceful. Have kept her cool and as comfortable as we could today. Our guess is she will be gone by the morning as she is definitely giving up. Sad but best for her really :(

    All for now

Aww thank you so much Pyxis :)

We have now put her in her box for the night and she is still fast a sleep bless her.

Our girls love eggs :) Not only do they love omelettes and scrambled eggs we have a naughty raw egg pincher in our flock. We know which one it is because when we go and collect the eggs from the nesting box she rushes out with egg all over her face. There is normally one empty shell in there each day :(

    Hi Pyxis

Sorry for the delay getting back on the thread. I was out of action yesterday with a blooming Migraine. Started half an hour after I got up so tried to just sit quietly but it wasn't having any of it and I had to go back to bed. Much better today but taking it easy as still feeling a bit delicate but that will wear off.

Thanks for asking about our little hen. She is still with us and spends her time sleeping. This morning she refused to take a little water from me :( Bless her heart. Just keeping her cool and quiet as there is nothing we can do now really. She will go in her sleep as we have seen many of our hens do. Just need to keep her as comfortable as possible. She isn't in any pain but just sits quietly. I sit with her from time to time and stroke her and when I do that she leans towards where I am stroking her and when I stop she opens her eyes as if to say "don't stop mum I was rather liking you doing that". She is old for a rescue girl bless her.

Will keep everyone up to date as and when I can.

So are you looking to attach the green wired fence to your existing council post? If so cable ties should do the job ok. Have you thought about some strong netting? Our fences at the very top are around 4ft high so we have black netting which is attached by baton to the existing wooden posts. As it is black it is almost invisible. Just thought that netting maybe easier to attach to the councils post.

Not long now until your new hotel (as it is known on this thread) arrives. Please do let us know how you get on. When is your handy man coming to sort the run for you?.

Sounds like you will be up and running soon :)
