So glad airline companies are getting tougher with that sort of behaviour. You clearly have no appreciation as to how this childish attitude impacts on others. It's selfish and no one should have to deal with it.

You are clearly very naive to believe that your wife was a totally innocent bystander. What do crews have to gain from picking on someone when it will mean more time staying behind filling out forms to justify their position.

Who cares they were on a hen do. They were obnoxious and disturbing everyone else on the plane. They should all be embarrassed and writing a letter to the crew to apologise for the stress they inevitably put them under. Disgraceful!

Yes, in my experience, there's nothing worse than a group of middle aged women on a hen party. They are loud, obnoxious, and because their normal lives are so boring, they tend to go absolutely wild on such things. Drinking litre bottles of spirits on planes is not normal behaviour at 6am in the morning!

Given that the OP's wife was the only one denied boarding, something tells me that she was probably caught drinking on board the plane. Probably asking for a Diet Coke while smelling strongly of spirits gave the game away.

I travel to what is also a popular stag/hen destination reasonably often as well as having a wide circle of friends in the same age group and demographic the OP's wife and his friends fall into.
I've notice that large "celebrating" groups in this demographic are probably the worst to be around as because they are older and tend to have a certain level of authority in their working lives they tend to ignore cabin crew/bar staff's requests to tone things down when they start to disturb other patrons compare with similar groups of younger people.

I've been on flights with these kind of groups and it's a miserable experience -as they show no consideration for others -and the language is pretty ripe and not nice for families on the flight who have no option but to put up with it.

These kind of groups have a certain reputation - maybe the OP's wife was totally without blame (although expecting crew to serve coke for her booze implies otherwise - I doubt she brings her own when she and the OP go out for a drink in a bar at home) and if you travel with a group that is considered disruptive there's always the chance you'll get tarred with the same brush.

  • Couldn't agree more. If the situation was so severe that the Captain had to talk to them upon landing, then it seems highly likely that they were completely out of order.

The fact that the OP's wife doesn't really drink suggests that she couldn't handle it, and if she was stupid enough to ask for a mixer while smelling of booze - well, do the mathematics.

I've once dealt with a group of such women that were screeching and talking about highly inappropriate subjects in front of children. A small reminder to them that their own children wouldn't want to see Mummy in the newspaper did the trick.

  • I was on a Jet2 flight in May and there were 3 guys in the row in front of me who had obviously been drinking before they boarded. They ordered 2 cans of Bud each and 1 Vodka on at least 3 occasions. One ended up slumped on the seatback in front, having to steady himself on the seat backs to get to the toilet, and the language was starting to slip. Not once did the crew say anything to him, but I did see them looking at him and talking. Jet2 crew do have quite a good tolerance level, unless things are really bad, so if the Captain got involved there was obviously far more to this story than either the OP is telling, or more likely, was told. I'd guess he doesn't really know what his wife is like when she gets with her mates, or what they are like either. That age group of women is definitely the worst when they get 'cut loose' from their everyday responsibilities.

Agreed -which was why I suggested the OP had a look around the FB etc accounts belonging to "the girls" ...it might shed a bit of light on things.
