Haha it's good to know it's not just me. I really could have throttled myself this afternoon but five minutes of fuming and I was laughing at the situation again.
  • Good news - I was able to change the tickets! It was £4 for the two tickets and I returned the wrong set special delivery which was £6.45 but for pretty much a tenner I have a solution which was much much better than cutting my hols short and spending £30-£50 on a new single train ticket!

I'm keeping up with YNAB which is the most important thing for me. If I track every little transaction then I don't get lost in my spending and it makes me think twice before tapping the contactless card on the reader.

Can't wait to get refunded for my dentist appointment. I haven't used any of my preventative cover yet this statement year so they should pay out the whole amount (minus the infamous toothpaste which I've already paid off).

Really feeling sluggish this week. I'm in a great mood though so that's a major positive. Just need to get the body going. :j
  • Great news about the tickets :)

Great you got the tickets changed!

I am trying to budget waaaay in advance and include all the extras!

We each are left with "fun money" of £200 each and once that's gone it's gone! That way we can have fun and treat ourselves but our limit is clear! This includes takeaways and lunches out! They no longer come from the joint pot!

What if you set yourself a monthly limit? Would that help your cards come down?

It's finding the balance between paying off the debt and living life as you want to isn't it? Depends how unhappy the debtsp makes you and whether you would rather give up some fun money to pay it down quicker!

Thanks, Daisy! I think this is the "problem" I've been so set on having this deadline to pay everything off by that the budget isn't really liveable. Well, I'm sure it is by some! I think having lived this for a couple of months (and paid some debt off while not creating any more!! :T) I need to re-look at the SOA and make a new budget that's more realistic for me.

It's like the other day when I made my giant to-do list. I put too much pressure on myself and just spent half the day laying in bed with the laptop... looking at what I needed to do. When I cut it back to a more manageable amount then I felt inspired to get up and tick things off the list. With the debt-busting I think I need to go with baby steps.

At the rate above, throwing the extra at the cards, I could clear all the Credit Card debt by October 16 when the interest is due to start again. Then have Bank of Dad paid back by February 17.

I'd like to get everything paid back at the very least by the end of 2016 but there's lots of places to scrimp on the more realistic SOA/budget. Plus there is no rush with the loan as long as it's consistently having something paid off.
  • Note to Self: I HAVE TOO MANY CLOTHES!

An embarrassing amount of clothes, especially as so many don't fit or just don't get worn.

If I give away, sell, or throw out something that I later need... I'm in a position to buy another. Okay, maybe not the best situation considering I'm trying to pay off my debts, but a good thought to hold on to.

For less than £150 I could buy everything I need to clothe myself for a week from Primark, including shoes. And if you have a week's worth of clothes and access to a washing machine then you have the very basics you need to survive with. Sure, it's not the best quality, but it's there if an emergency struck.

I don't have room for all the clothes I own to comfortably coexist with me in my space. The answer is not to buy more storage and cram it in. The answer is to get rid of the clothes that I don't use but store, launder, and maintain for no reason.

Lucky it's the bank holiday weekend and I have minimal plans, right?
  • Time for another confession/note to self: I HAVE WAY TOO MUCH FOOD.

The cupboard won't shut, I can't even see what's on my fridge shelf and let's just forget about the freezer drawer! I live in a flatshare so I only have one of each but right now I'm not even making good use of them as I can't see what I've got in so just end up buying more.

Meal plan utterly tanked last week, by the way.

Okay! My Monday is going to be filled with clearing and cataloguing food and clothes. The excitement never ends around here.

Went to yoga this morning which was fab (and free!) and picked up some tasty bits and pieces for dinner. Will be having a chilled afternoon/evening and maybe a bubble bath. Sounds just the ticket!
