How is it day 10 already? I've not even done anything worthwhile yet. Going to have to change that.
I've been looking after my mum today as she had her cataracts done in one eye. She needed someone to take her to the hospital and be with her overnight, so I'm staying here tonight. OH is shocked that he's got to fend for himself :rotfl:
Anyway, need to get these debts moving down. I'm due to make a £200 payment to my council tax arrears (one lot of them) on the 19th. I've emailed them to ask if I can change it to the end of the month, but as they're notoriously difficult, I suspect I might have to pay on the 19th anyway. Was just trying to give us a bit of breathing room this month. I sent an email on Monday and they haven't responded yet. I'll call them on Friday if they haven't replied by then.
The debt stands at £595.39, so will drop down to £395.39 when the £200 has been paid (I'm good at maths me
). I'm going to try and get it down to £200 before the August payment is due, and then it will be cleared cleared cleared :j
So, I've got a list of stuff to do on a daily basis to try and get the cash and vouchers rolling in.
Bit late now though, so best get some sleep. Will be back tomorrow.

I'm sorry you have hassle from the council tax people. They should be grateful that you're making every effort to pay the arrears off and give you a bit of leeway. Jobsworths:(
I hope your Mum is feeling better now and her eyesight is getting back to normal. I remember my Grandma having cataracts removed many years ago when they had to stay in hospital overnight afterwards:eek:.
Can't remember if I checked in here to mention that my car passed its MOT on Tuesday and didn't even have any advisories for future attention either:j:j:j. I mentioned it on most of the threads I frequent, I was so chuffed that it ended up only costing the £35 test fee:rotfl:.
Good luck with your money-making but don't overdo it xx0 -
Morning
CBC - Glad your car passed its MOT. I bet that's a weight off your mind (and your bank account) for another year :T
So I've got a busy week coming up with work. I've got just under 10 hours overtime, so that's an extra £70. My week looks like this:
Saturday - 12-8
Sunday - 11-5
Monday 1-8
Tuesday 1-8
Wednesday - Off
Thursday 5-8
Friday 12-5
Finally heard about my tax refund. I'm owed £370.60, which I'll receive 'in the next few days', so not sure when that will be. Should be sometime next week hopefully. Will definitely help for the next 2 weeks before OH gets paid.
I spoke to the council tax people and they agreed to change the date to the 31st, so that's one less thing to worry about. I owe £595.39 on there, and my aim is to get that paid by the end of August - one month early.
Received my free Jacobs cracker crisps from BzzAgent. They are 3 large sharing bags, which was more than I expected. We're off to the cinema tomorrow night to see Ant Man (£14 for the 2 of us, which is a cheap night out), so will take them as a snack.
Got free tickets to see Mission Impossible next weekend. OH wanted to see it, so will save us paying.
Also got a couple more eMystery Shopper surveys, worth £2 each. Will try and get them completed this weekend. The other surveys I've done haven't been reviewed yet, so I doubt I'll be able to claim the cheque before the cut-off date on Monday. That will be something for next month, which I'll put towards the council tax arrears.

Already over 2 weeks in and not much achieved (if anything!!). I'll try to post on here daily from now on to change this. Need to keep myself motivated. Want those arrears gone by the end of next month!!
I completed all the overtime I had over the past few days and have still got some on Friday. Day off today though :T. My nephew is graduating from pre-school, so I'm going to watch his ceremony with my mum and sister. Doesn't seem possible that he's going to school in September - he seems too tiny (born in August and a premature baby).
I've got some more eMystery Shopper surveys to do, 2 of which need to be completed tomorrow, so will get that done today. All the work on there adds up to £39.50, so that will be a nice chunk off the arrears next month.
Still no sign of the tax refund hitting my bank account.
Also must order my prescription, as I'm running low on a few things.

Nice to hear you are OK, Emz.
I hope you enjoy your nephew's 'graduation'. They grow up so quickly don't they? 'Real' school is such a milestone.
Did you have the time to see Andy's match against Simon on Sunday? He was brilliant:j. Nice to see the human side of him too when he was so emotional at the end. He hasn't always come over very well in interviews etc, ( a bit robotic and dour IMO) but now he is letting his feelings show he has earned so many more supporters. I think everyone admired his achievements and qualities as a player but just couldn't warm to him as a person before. I think that's changed forever now:j
The match-up with Australia should be excellent. I hope an old favourite of mine, Lleyton Hewitt, is playing for his swansong. Should be lots of passion on display if he does.0 -
Hi CBC

I was working on Sunday, but I did download the match (and the doubles from Saturday) to watch over the course of Monday and yesterday.
Very proud of the team and bless Andy for getting so emotional at the end. I think he had so much expectation on his shoulders and was so tired that he must have felt extremely relieved when he won. A lot of people say he's Scottish and doesn't care about playing for his country etc etc, but I think he has now proved how much it means to him.
Felt a bit sorry for Tsonga. Aside from Murray, he's one of my favourite players. Always seems like a lovely, genuine person and was the first over to check if Murray was okay when he fell during the doubles.
Also looking forward to the match with Australia. I think if Andy is fit, then it shouldn't be a problem for him. Shame to put the emphasis on him all the time, but I really don't think they could win without him.

I agree about Tsonga, he does seem a genuinely nice guy:T.
I agree with you too about Andy's value to the team. In the recent past when he didn't tend to play in the team we were rubbish, definitely 3rd Division:eek:. With him we're definitely a force to be reckoned with. His commitment and never-say-die attitude has rubbed off on the other team members. They are following his example and have become much more resilient themselves as a result.0 -
Wouldn't say Andy is dour as such.
More a reserved Scot

I don't think Andy is dour now, beanielou
but according to some of the shades of meaning for the word from various dictionaries, he certainly used to be in his younger days;).
Here's just a few example of what a quick look-up of 'dour' threw up:
gloomy, glum, moody, morose, saturnine, sour, sulky, sullen, surly.
And he certainly came across a lot like that once upon a time:(
I see you're a Scot too, beanielou:T. Maybe there's a 'scottishness' about Andy that we English don't understand:rotfl:
I couldn't stand him in the old days, although I admired his skill and ability as a player. I know he's there to play tennis not be a media darling but these days so much is expected of out sports stars. They should never lose sight of the fact that they are rich beyond belief, partly from sponsorships and advertising, but it's the public's interest in them and the 'bums on seats' that make all the rest fall into place.0 -
Yes spot on carbootcrazy~~ A Scottishness is a good way to describe it.
