THANKS IN ADVANCE
try the seat61 website for the exact details, but from what I remember, its the metro from Gare du nord to chatelet les halles, then you change to the local RER train to val d'europe.0 -

Thank you so much for your help :j0 -
Dear Balletshoes,
you are amazing! You know everything about DLP holiday! You are the expert so I have to ask you for some serious advice here, as I have no idea what to do, please.
We are a a family of 4, myself, my dh, dd (will be 4 in june) and ds (will be 2 in sept). We are thinking about going to DLP in Sept (first half) for a few days. It would be our first time and we are very excited. We've been planning on going next summer but we changed the plan. We are of course trying to be practical as the kids are so small and also trying to get an affordable holiday. So far we think driving would be great (from Edinburgh), as we could bring all the snacks, drinks, some food, buggy and stuff for the kids. But the trip would be really long. We thought about staying at Davy's Ranch, it seems really nice and tbh I think a hotel room would be quite small for all of us for several days. Plus we could park for free just outside our cabin and drive to the parks everyday (by the way, do you have to pay parking if you stay in Davy's Ranch, please?). Atm the 25% off and free half boar meals seems wonderful. Anyway, could you please please tell me what you think of our plan so far? Do you find it realistic? What would the best option be for us, please, when it comes to transport, hotel, no of days vs vaue for money and also how many days do you think you need to enjoy the park? Any advice would be very much appreciated as this will be our first visit to DLP. Thanks a lot!Balance recognizes that many good things in life are good only in moderation. I think your plan sounds great for a first visit.
You could break up the drive by staying near you departure port/Folkestone the night before you travel to France, and then again on the way home before you drive up to Edinburgh. There are loads of premier inns and travelodges around the port towns.
For a first visit I'd say 3 or 4 days in the parks, midweek in September once the schools have gone back (so after the first week has finished) will be lovely and quiet, the parks will still be open fairly late (ie 9.30pm or 10pm) and the weather is usually for T-shirts then at DLP.
If you're staying at the Davy Crocketts ranch you park for free at the DLP car park.
The half board free isn't really free - although it can work out well. For a family of 4 (your son will eat free at buffet service restaurants) the half board plan works out at around £55 per night (thats the value of the vouchers you will get on the plan). You don't get vouchers for your son, so if you want to eat at table service restaurants you will have to pay for him, or he can share what you've ordered. I like the half board plan for the Davy Crockatt, its the standard plan and it gives a good range of buffet restaurants as well as some table service ones, in the parks, the Village, and your own hotel too.0 -
Dear Balletshoes,
how kind of you to write me and really answer all of my questions. I can not thank you enough. It is very much appreciated!
SO, I will keep in mind the breaks before and after France, to break up the long drive. Then, I will book Davy's on DLP's website for the second week of Sept (sounds wonderful to us). And we are really happy with the current offer too (half board) but here comes the silly question, please. When/where do you get the vouchers? And how do they really work, please? I imagine you get them when you check in for the entire stay? Are you allowed to use them for lunch or dinner, please?
I am still thinking about the no of days we should book as the drive is so long and I am sure the kids will love the park, but we can't stay too long either.
Well, I will keep an eye on this thread and once again Balletshoes, I really appreciate your help!

yes, you get your half board vouchers when you check in at reception on your first day. You get one voucher per night booked, per person aged 3 or over. You can use them as you like in participating restaurants in the resort, for either lunch or dinner, and for the duration of your stay (ie you don't have to stick strictly to using one voucher per person per day).
when you get your vouchers, there will be a list of all the participating restaurants listed on them. For the standard vouchers, they are -
Annettes Diner,
La Grange at Billy Bobs (buffet)
Restaurant des Stars (buffet)
the buffet restaurants inside the Santa Fe and Cheyenne hotels
the buffet restaurant at Davy Crockett ranch
Plaza Gardens (buffet)
Agrabah Cafe (buffet)
Silver Spur Steakhouse
you can also use the vouchers at cash value in the other participating restaurants, so for example you could go to Cafe Mickey for lunch or dinner one day, have a character meal (ie the characters come around each table for photographs, autographs etc), share pizza there between you all (like Pizza Hut), and pay with your vouchers.
Have a look at DLRPMagic, they have a good restaurant menu/review part of their forum, to give you some ideas of where you might like to use your vouchers.0 -

Fantastic Balletshoes,
once again thanks you very much for your help. I have to read about it, you're right. It sounds great and I can not wait to go! I think we are more excited than the kids)
