We are hoping to let our niece see the Eiffel Tower and possibly go inside the Arc de Triomphe. Is there anything else we can realistically see or do on a Sunday in Paris within 6 hours? Can anyone recommend anywhere to eat in Paris that is reasonably priced, well as reasonably priced as you can get for Paris?
The boat cruises on the Seine are a very nice way to spend an hour if the weather is decent - not too expensive either and there are a couple of different companies which are based right near the Eiffel Tower.
Hop on hop off buses would be an option if you just want to get an overview of the main tourist sites, but they can be pricey - €30ish pp I think. You could see some of the highlights using normal buses - route 69 is meant to be a good one as it goes from the Eiffel Tower area east through the heart of the city.
As a rough suggestion, you could head up to the Arc du Triomphe by bus / metro / RER (depending on what you've decided to do with bags), get a bus or walk from there down to the Trocadero area for great views of the ET, walk towards the tower across the bridge to pick up a boat trip then see how you're doing for time.
If you have a while left, catch a bus to somewhere around Hotel de Ville and explore the Marais area - lots of quirky little shops and cheap places to eat, plus it's very bustling on a Sunday compared to other areas in Paris where many of the shops etc are closed. You would also be in a relatively good location to catch your train from there back to the airport.
Walking from Place de la Concorde through the Tuileries gardens to the Louvre is another lovely walk if the weather's good.
Print off a copy of the RER/Metro and bus route maps before you go as these will help a lot with navigation.0 -

I love the Santa Fe. Yes, there is a toast machine at breakfast, yes, you get extra magic hours here, and yes, the Disney channel is in English (as well as other languages) in the rooms.

Nervous_wreck wrote: »Hello! This is my first post and I've been driven to it as I am so confused! We are off to DLP on 7 May 2012 for three nights, visiting the park for 2 days. I've sorted out most things but have ended up reading so much I've got myself so confused about the last bits to sort out that I haven't done anything! I thought I'd see if anyone could offer any advice as I'm going round in circles.
We are a family of two adults, a four year old and a 19 month old. We are driving there (Eurotunnel courtesy of Tesco rewards), 3 nights in Magic Circus (good deal, Quidco, plus coincided with credit card cashback month so even cheaper) and got free park tickets via Sky for the adults.
I don't know where to get the cheapest tickets for two days for my four year old? We're not likely to be going back anytime soon.
Plus I am not sure what to do about food? Whether to buy the meal plans or is it not worth it? I'd like to take them to Cafe Mickey (I went 10 years ago and loved it), wondered about going the first evening as we won't be in the parks that day so it would be something 'Disney' to do, although a little bit worried they may be frightened by the characters. Also after reading something, somewhere I wondered about booking Walts to watch a parade from there, but no idea what time or if that's a good idea?
Any driving tips also gratefully received! Sorry this is so long!
we did thisHeaded to the Disneyland Hotel for characters @ 4pm. Then went to the village for a wander round the shops and a coffee.
and then booked Cafe Mickey for 6pm
Then to the hotel for a good sleep in readiness for a full day @ Disney the next day lol !0 -
We're planning on using the Sky free tickets to go in during the off-season.
Can someone please tell me when the best dates are in early September to book the travel for? (when Eurostar/hotels are likely to be cheaper).
Thanks.0 -
Thanks for your help. We stayed off site last year it was amazing and we ahead booked Santa fe without reading the very mixed reviews.
My son has an eating issue, he will only eat fries or chippy chips when we go on holiday (i packed snacks as well last year) so is there anywhere other than Macdonalds selling them. We looked around last year and couldnt get fries at the places we tried?
Also does the little stalls in Belles village ever open?0 -

eurostar tickets for the direct DLP train have already been on sale by phone since late last year, so you might find there are no cheap fares left - I'd check that first. Generally any time after around 8th September or so will be cheaper, as European (including French and UK schools) will be back to school by then.0 -

Belles Village isn't there at all in June, its only built for Christmas season.
I get sick and tired of fries at DLP - there are so many counter-service places that sell them :rotfl:! Toad Hall, chalet au marionette, last chance cafe, caseys corner, all sell fries in the main park. And in the studios the En Coulisse as you enter Studio One (the main walkthrough building) sells them. These are all fish/burger places.
In the village as well as McDs theres also Annettes (they have a take-out window) and the Sports bar which sells fries, hot dogs, etc etc.0 -

While doing my research, I saw the MBNA/BMI credit card that gives 2 Eurostar tickets as a freebie, so I've signed up for it. Free is 'free', so it shouldn't matter when we go now0 -

the majority of the counter restaurants sell fries in both the park and the studios the kids meals are advertised as coming with tomato or something like that but if you ask they will exchange them for fries.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0
