We've just back, there was a little snow whilst we were there and it didn't seem to affect much - the parachute jump ride was closed during the morning but nothing else that we noticed.
Our flight home was a different matter unfortunately! We were due to fly on Sunday but Leeds Bradford airport was closed so it was Tuesday before we could get back. Another £400 on the total bill and not covered by our insurance
Fantastic trip though, really enjoyable for all of us. I do intend to write a bit of a 'review' on this thread when I get chance.0 -
thanks for that - sorry you were so badly delayed - fingers crossed for our trip!0

Just looking for a bit of advice. We are going to DLP on 8th December, with our one year old and our 3 year old. We have got thick coats, layers etc, but having read the posts on the Sun holiday thread, I am starting to panic and think that we need ski wear! Have any of you been at that time of the year, and how cold was it? Thanks in advance - don't want to have 2 freezing cold children lol.
Hi, It's lovely, especially when it snows, but it is so cold. I'm not just saying that either. We went 21/22 Dec a few years ago & it was -15! I've never been so cold & really didn't expect it. Definitely plenty of layers, hats, scarves & some decent gloves. When we went it snowed & the ground was icy & I leaned on a bin during a parade & my coat froze to it! The lake was mostly iced over, but it was lovely & weather doesn't seem to affect the running of the park really.

Does anybody have any experience of travelling to Disneyland Paris by rail from Caen after taking the Brittany Ferries route across the channel as a foot passenger? We normally go as a family by car via the tunnel but I want to take a short break in Disneyland just with my daughter at the end of January and this would be by far the most convenient route for us.
The ferry part is easy to look into and price but I cannot get any hard and fast times and hence prices for the rail journey although I am sure this route exists.
I have tried raileurope and a few other sites but I am drawing a complete blank.
Any help would be most appreciated or anyone's experiences through having made this journey.
Thank you.0 -
Might be easier to book Caen-Paris and then get a local ticket out to Disney. Random dates entered for Jan shows a regular service to Paris ST LAZARE throughout the day and prices from £14:50 each way, this is the cheapest non-amendable fare and has to be booked 2 weeks in advance.
Not done the journey and have no idea how far the station is from the port etc. so no advice on that bit. Seems the ferry port is 18kms from the station, taxi 30-40 Euros, there is a bus too but no mention of fares.0 -
Thank you Pompeyrich, I am happy to get from Ouistreham to Caen station by bus and then go to St Lazare but I have no idea how far away it is from Disneyland or even how to get there. What do you mean by a local ticket? I’m not terribly keen on using the metro, I would have been happier going direct to CDG and then changing for DLRP but that doesn’t seem possible. I think I have been going wrong by putting that as my destination.
I am trying to balance up all options for cost, time and convenience, starting from Portsmouth area. The alternative is train to Waterloo, get from there to St Pancreas, (hopefully over ground) and then Eurostar. All new to me whilst Brittany Ferries and Caen feel very familiar!0 -
Hello!
I've read through perhaps the past twenty or so pages and I still find myself needing to ask this!
But... I'm looking to take my big brother to Disneyland Paris for his birthday, ideally around the weekend of the 14th January, three nights (so we have time to visit Paris).
I looked on the DLP website, and it's quoting me either £711.00 or £675.00 (for Hotel Cheyenne or Santa Fe respectively), including park entrance and eurostar.
We looked on lastminute.com (It wouldn't let me search for Disneyland as a location!), expedia (£606.00 for Hotel Cheyenne) and Thomas Cook (£590.86 online, £616.43 on the phone, both with Santa Fe)... Is there anywhere else I may be able to look to get cheaper prices? Would it work out cheaper to book things separately?
I last went to Disneyland when I was eight, so almost twelve years ago... I can't really remember much!
I really want to give my brother a nice present, but he's the one that got all of the organisational skills in our family... so I'm thinking that booking a package may be easier, but then again, I'm on a tiny budget, so if anyone thinks it may be cheaper to book things separately then so be it!
Please please please help! Any tips or advice would be so very appreciated! You'll literally be saving my sanity!

Seems a fairly straightfoward 10 min walk from St Lazarestation to Auber RER station which is on a direct line to DLP ( Marne-la-Vallee Chessy) station, about a 45 min train ride along line A. More details HERE, you can translate using the EN symbol at the top.
By a local ticket I mean another ticket to get you across Paris.0 -

If you see a price with the 40% off now, for your dates, hotel etc, you can call Disney on their booking line and pay 10% deposit. This guarantees your price, and the balance of the holiday is taken 60 days before your check-in date.0
