Halifax Clarity Card part payment query

First Post First Anniversary
On my last holiday, I had to have emergency medical treatment which resulted in going over my credit limit, by some £50. There was no problem with Halifax authorising the payment, but I just had a look online and there is a note to say that I have exceeded my credit limit and to make a payment. I pay every month in full by DD and this bill is not due to be paid till early August. To avoid any charges, can I take the statement into a local branch and just pay the £50, or is that too complicated for them? Unfortunately, there is no help available online and if you ring, you speak to robots.

You could. Although a much quicker means of paying would be through online banking. Do you have that set up with your own bank?

I think zx means do you have online banking set up at all for your bank, irrespective of Halifax?

If you do, it's easy to make a payment to the Halifax CC

Yes I do, where can I get the correct sort code and account number? On the online page the account number is shown as a series of zeroes.

The statement also shows a series of zeroes, weird but I guess that must be correct.

In the payment slip section is sort code and account number of the bank. Reference will be your 16-digit account number. The bank's account number might consist of a a few digits and lots of zeros (my Santander card does).

Be aware, some banks will adjust the DD if an additional payment has been made, others will take the DD regardless. Check with Halifax how they operate.

I don't think that you can avoid charges by making a payment.

Yes, it's correct but you must quote your credit card number in the reference field, as stated by bengal-stripe.

Grumbler - the thread you've linked is over 2 years old. The sort code and account number quoted in that thread is no longer valid. :(
