    Evening all,

misstara - I believe all vinegar is gf

abundant - thank you for the information, I think I might enquire with my GP

So today marks the first day back home after the wedding and the first day without any marking. Technically, I could request some more marking however as next week is the start of the summer holidays and I am doing a part time job for at least half of the holidays, I have decided to give myself a week where I just do one job ;)

Today was a SFD and I got a cheque in the post so I've put that in the bank and will pay it off the debt once it clears tomorrow :)
    LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
New roof and car £8557/£19003 New kitchen £396/£5039 Credit card Paid Student loan Paid

    Hi All

Apple - Your sister sounds like a very useful lady to know then :) I grew up in a 1 horse town where we had 1 bus per day to anywhere useful, and 2 buses per day that went all around the houses and took 3 hours to do 20 miles! most people learn to drive at 17 and never look back. Funny enough I would probably never give up a car if I lived rurally like that again, but in London its a lot easier. I've seen other posters on here as well saying how dangerous cycling in country lanes is. Saftely first absolutely.

Academia - So not an insignificant amount then at all. You could have a nice break for £500

Calling - Funny enough I did almost throw into the challenge the concept of 'tag a turtle' like a debt free buddying system, but in the end thought I wouldnt as not everyone is comfortable with that sort of thing. But thats it, I am so tagging you :) 'you're it'

Dolly - It is emotional all the 'lasts' isnt it. I dread my son leaving primary....

MissDebt - Well done with your efforts, I see we are PADing together too.

Abundant - No news is good news right? Well done on your NSD.

The Only Girl - Wow that is quite a difference isnt it to your shift patterns. I dont know how you do the nights. Well done on the cashback. I am waiting on £30 from January buying a home contents policy. TCB say it may take me until September to get it!!!

Fmess- Well done on your SFD & the cheque, hope its a fat one :)

So today was a busy day at the shop. Sold a lot of take away coffee. Met some nice new customers who seemed happy & spent quite a lot first thing on a big breakfast, cake, multiple coffees. They'd just moved to the area apparently. Also met some new mums in the afternoon who had apparently found me on google. Have the rent to pay on wednesday so all helps!
Heard from the party mum for this weekend. She has 12 coming, a nice number to cater for.
Made £3 in tips which I've paid off CC2.

Pretty pooped so off for a soak in the tub with a cuppa :)

  • Bob and academia, shift work really isn't for everyone. Many a times I wake up wondering if it's morning or evening. I remember this one time before I learned how to drive and bus commute took one hour, I just finished 3 13-hour night shifts and I was so knackered, I fell asleep on the bus and woke up to find me in the bus terminal, in the next town. What a hoot! Luckily, that was my last night shift for that week so I decided to go shopping instead of going home. Working out of hours and changing patterns of shifts plays havoc with your body clock and a MASSIVE hurdle to losing weight. But inasmuch as I hate shifts, somebody has to do it.

    As the song goes,

    I owe, I owe
So off to work I go
    I work all day
    I get no play
    I owe, I owe, I owe, I owe

    I owe
So off to work I go
    Everyday
    There's more to pay
    The bills they choke
    I'm always broke
    I owe, I owe, I owe, I owe.

Oh gosh that must have been a really unpleasant experience. I've had friends do that before but alcohol has usually played a part.

I felt the same about working most Saturdays and every Sunday for 2 years before the business closed. I lost touch with so many people because they just didn't get that I COULDN'T meet not didn't want to. I am now glad that for now most weekends are mine.

    Hi everyone!

Sorry I have been absent for a few days but things have been a bit hectic. DH invited friends to stay with us to help celebrate my graduation. We have been out for a meal and they stayed at ours so have had lots of cleaning and tidying to do. We used the whole £50 I had set aside on the meal and it was delicious and plentiful.

Have told hubby that things need to get back on track now, both with budgets and healthy eating and he has agreed.

Looking forward to school holidays to spend some quality time with the children. Hoping the weather will be good so we can spend plenty of time outdoors.

Oh...nearly forgot to mention...a kind family member has given me £100 towards my masters as a gift for completing my degree. I still have a long way to go, but every little helps!
  • Hi welshkitty congratulations on your graduation. I bet you feel relieved that you have no more course requirements to do, essays to write, etc. Enjoy your quality time with your kids. Your family must be proud of what you've achieved, especially your children. Good role modelling and all that. What generous family member you have! It's nice of them to give you £100.

Thanks for the advice on vinegar, I shall put it in next time and see if it makes any difference to the taste or texture of the bread.

My loan payment went out today so I have now met my £5250 target for the month :j and have only £37ish to go to meet my stretch target. Today has also been a NSD so 8/20.

More things brought back from the big house, more geraniums potted up, plus a little trip to the big town. Very tired and will be listening to my body tomorrow. Would love to do more and make maximum use of the bus ticket but think I am close to my physical limit and don't want to over-do things.

I have a midday appointment tomorrow and wanted to spend a day at the Art Gallery/ Museum I visited briefly last month so will see. The appointment will be a challenge as I only have bus fare for one way (can't use the weekly ticket with that operator) if I need it.

Today I am grateful for hot baths (and salt), for a pleasant day even if it was too wet to sit down anywhere and buses (getting much more done).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
