I shifted around 100 boxes of Tesco chopped tomatoes when I did a bootie last week, but only charged 20p each, have you looked around the place you intend selling at, see what there is and if theres a gap in the market?0 -
Just my wee tip on car boot sales - if you are selling clothes and want to get as much as you can into your car (as is the sensible way of doing things for car booting) it's a great idea to buy a couple of the vacuum-pack bags from Argos or Instore/Poundstretcher and pack any fabrics into them. That way you get a nice, manageable slab of clothing to simply unpack when you get to your pitch - and hang up on the rails if you remembered to bring them.
Only problem is that if it's a slow day and you can't get rid of stuff you may find it won't all go back in the boot!0 -

Hi need advice doing a car boot sale tomorrow have a couple of mobiles bought recently from tesco for free £10 credit was going to recycle them for points but thought might try and sell them at car boot sale first they are just a basic orange mobile. Do you sell them with the box and everything minus the sim card as that is registered to me. The only thing the box has the sim and ISBN no printed on boxes and these have been registered to my name and address can this lead to my details being traced or used for fraud or crime in any way by others. Or when they get a sim card does that change the details. SORRY not very up with this kind of thing and apoligise if its been answered by the thread previously I am just going to read through the pages now but thought it would take quite a bit of time to read 21 pages0

I sold a few phones where I'd just used the sims for credit, I shoved a freebie sim in I had lying about, phones are sold/lost/stolen everyday the likelihood of anything coming on you is virtually non existent, as they can trace whereabouts the call is made from anyway0 -
Hello everyone,
I am looking to get rid of most of my stuff at car boot sales, ideally in Islington but would consider greater London, if I've got more chance of selling.
Any recommendations for where to go? I'll be selling DVDs (100+), CDs (20+), books and magazines (the magazines are mostly in French though), video games/consoles (at least 5 big boxes), clothes and a few random odds and ends.
Thanks.0 -
Thanks for starting this thread, great advice all round. I am a regular visitor to the Denham boot sale on every Saturday morning. As a fan of my lie ins I have a tip that sounds a bit obvious but really does help in bargain hunting. By turning up at 10am it can be a bit demoralising seeing people walking out with some great bargains already, something you could have had if you hadn't been in bed!! I always always head to the very back end of the carboot and work my way from there. You may get tempted along the way, but be strong, head to the very back and you will pick up so many more bargains as people generally flag and don't go all the way to the end.
Also, great pricing tips above, def never pay more than £2 for a DVD. Last week a seller didn't have a clue and wanted £2....for videos!!0 -
